After police in Bangladesh have been clearly caught in videos while torching the houses of poor Santhals in Gaibandha, Asaduzzaman Khan, the home minister, said to a JUGANTOR reporter: “We don’t know much about what happened there. Since you are saying that a video of police setting fire to the houses in the Santhal village has been viral on the YouTube, we will look into the case.”
The minister also added: “If our investigation finds that some policemen were found involved in such act, they will be face stringent punishment.”
Have you finished your investigation, my dear minister? Do you still really need more proofs to initiate action against these policemen?
সাঁওতালদের ঘরে পুলিশের আগুন দেয়া নিয়ে স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী আসাদুজ্জামান খান যুগান্তরকে বলেন, ‘বিষয়টি আমাদের জানা নেই। যেহেতু ইউটিউবে এ ধরনের ছবি দেয়া হয়েছে বলে আপনি বলছেন, অবশ্যই আমরা খতিয়ে দেখব।’
অপর এক প্রশ্নের উত্তরে তিনি আরও বলেন, ‘তদন্তে পুলিশের জড়িত থাকার বিষয়টি প্রমাণিত হলে অবশ্যই তা চিহ্নিত করে কঠোর শাস্তির ব্যবস্থা করা হবে।’
