Officer-in-Charge of Khulna GRP or Government Railway Police Osman Goni Pathan and his five colleagues arrested one woman from a railway station, detained her in a police station overnight and gang-raped her. Then they slapped a narcotics-related case against her.
During the Liberation War Pakistani soldiers used to detain and gang-rape them in the camps, after rounding them up from different places. Police in Bangladesh seem to have been encouraged by the ideology of those demoralised Pakistani soldiers. In Bangladesh now they are known for their expertise in enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and torture in custody.
The force is also known for their sexual torture of women in police stations, jail and other places. Whenever they get attracted to some women, they pick them up and torture them in barbaric style. They continue indulging in such heinous activities because they know that they would not face punishment.
Ahead of the fraudulent general election in Bangladesh in December, police filed false cases against opposition party leaders, drove them away from the arena and campaigned in support of ruling Awami League. Then, one day before the date of polling, with the active co-operation from police, Awami League goons took control of the voting centres, stamped on the Awami League symbol of boat on the ballot papers and stuffed the ballot boxes at night.
Police, who have turned anti-people in Bangladesh, are using their utmost power to back the fascist regime in the country. Unless we manage to revamp and reorganise this corrupt and oppressive force, Bangladesh will not be able to surge ahead during the post-fascist era.

খুলনা জি আর পি থানার ওসি ওসমান গনি পাঠান সহ আরো পাঁচ পুলিশ কর্মকর্তা এক তরুণীকে রেলস্টেশন থেকে গ্রেফতার করে থানায় নিয়ে গিয়ে সারারাত ধরে দঙ্গল ধর্ষণ করেছে। তারপরে সেই নারীর নামে মাদক মামলা দিয়েছে।
মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় ঠিক এভাবেই আমাদের নারীদের পাক সেনাদের ক্যাম্পে ধরে নিয়ে গিয়ে ধর্ষণ করা হতো। পাকিস্তানি ভাবাদর্শের ধারক বাংলাদেশী পুলিশের পেশা বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে দুর্নীতিগ্রস্ত পেশা হিসেবে চিহ্নিত হয়েছে। গুম বিচার বহির্ভূত হত্যা, হেফাজতে বন্দিকে নির্যাতন সহ সকল মানবাধিকার লংঘনের ঘটনায় তারা চ্যাম্পিয়ন। এর বাইরে এরা নিয়মিত থানার জেলখানার ভিতরে নারী নিগ্রহ করে। যেই নারীকে পছন্দ হয় তাকেই এই বর্বর পুলিশ বাহিনী তুলে নিয়ে গিয়ে ধর্ষণ করে, কারণ তারা সকল কাজেই দায়মুক্তি পায়।
নৈশ ভোটের সময় এই পুলিশই মিথ্যা মামলা দিয়ে, গুণ্ডা দিয়ে পিটিয়ে বিরোধী দলকে মাঠছাড়া করেছিলো, প্রকাশ্যে আওয়ামী লীগের পক্ষে ক্যাম্পেইন করেছিলো, আর রাতে পাহারা দিয়ে আওয়ামী লীগের গুণ্ডাদের সারা দেশে ভোটের আগেই নৌকা মার্কায় সিল দিয়ে ব্যালট বাক্স ভরে নিতে সাহায্য করেছিলো।
এই গণবিরোধী পুলিশ ফ্যাসিবাদের ঘৃন্য লাঠিয়াল। দুর্নীতিগ্রস্ত, নিপীড়ক, মানবাধিকার লংঘনকারী, রাজনৈতিক দলের লাঠিয়াল পুলিশ বাহিনীকে ফ্যাসিবাদ উত্তর জামানায় ব্যাপক সংস্কার ও পুনর্গঠন না করলে বাংলাদেশ সামনে অগ্রসর হতে পারবেনা।
