Mahbubul Alam Hanif, joint general secretary of Awami League, said: “Awami League will rule Bangladesh as long as Sheikh Hasina is alive….. And, she will continue to remain the country’s PM (as long as she is alive).”
It means, she will remain the chief executive of the nation as long as she is alive, he said. Such claim or wish is indeed anti-State or anti-Constitution. A politician can remain chief executive of a nation in the case of a de facto monarchy. A modern republic belongs to its people. People will choose their leader and then remove him or her, as they want. There is no space for anyone who dreams to remain the chief of the nation as long as he or she is alive.
All citizens should raise their voice against it when a top leader of a big political party like Awami League issues such statement. This announcement should be viewed as an omen ahead of an impending disaster for the country.
Citizens should react against this statement very seriously. Their conspiracy to turn this nation into a monarchy- in which the citizens will become subjects- has been exposed through this announcement. We all should stand up and resist the plan of the anti-State and anti-Constitution ruling party.
আওয়ামীলীগের যুগ্ম সাধারন সম্পাদক মাহবুব উল আলম হানিফ বলেছেন, “শেখ হাসিনা যতদিন জীবিত আছেন, ততদিন ক্ষমতায় থাকবে আ. লীগ।…. শেখ হাসিনাই ততদিন বাংলার প্রধানমন্ত্রী হিসেবে থাকবেন।”
এর অর্থ হচ্ছে আজীবন রাষ্ট্রের নির্বাহী থাকবেন শেখ হাসিনা। এই আকাঙ্ক্ষাই রাষ্ট্র এবং সংবিধান বিরোধী আকাংখ্যা। আজীবন রাষ্ট্রের নির্বাহী থাকার অর্থই হচ্ছে সেটা ডি ফেক্টো রাজতন্ত্র বা মনার্কি। আধুনিক রিপাবলিকে রাষ্ট্রের মালিক জনগন। সেই তাঁর নেতা নির্বাচন করবে, প্রয়োজনে তাঁকে অপসারন করবে। এইখানে আজীবন রাষ্ট্রের প্রধান থাকার কোন খায়েশ পূরণের কোন চিন্তার স্থান নেই। আওয়ামীলীগের মতো বড় দলের শীর্ষ নেতা যখন প্রকাশ্যে এমন কথা বলে তখন সকল নাগরিকের প্রতিবাদ করা উচিৎ।
এই ঘোষণা ভয়ানক, এই ঘোষণা এক অশনি সংকেত, এই ঘোষণা রাষ্ট্রকে রাজতন্ত্র আর নাগরিককে প্রজা বানানোর কুৎসিত ইচ্ছা। রাষ্ট্র ও সংবিধান বিরোধি শাসক দলের ইচ্ছাকে রুখে দাঁড়ানো আমাদের সকলের কর্তব্য।
