Arrests of people are going on in Bangladesh in an unprecedented style. In post-liberation era this is the first time we find such huge number of people in jail. The jails across the country are holding inmates three times their capacity and all inmates are living inside in inhuman situation.
Apart from arresting the opposition leaders and activists, they are also sending their relatives behind the bars. They are doing all this simply to make the arena free from any opposition. Criminal cases are being filed even against dead and infirm people. They slapped cases against against people who were away from the country when the alleged violence took place. Very interestingly, cases against people have been filed for violent incidents which did not even take place.
Yet, they want us to believe that they would hold a “free, fair and all-inclusive” elections.

সারা দেশে নজিরবিহীনভাবে গ্রেফতার চলছে। স্বাধীনতার পরে এতো বেশীসংখ্যক মানুষ কখনো জেলে ছিলোনা। সারা দেশের জেলগুলোর ধারণক্ষমতার তিনগুণ বেশী বন্দী বর্তমানে অমানবিক অবস্থায় জেলখানা গুলোতে আছে।
শুধু বিরোধীদলের কর্মীরাই নয় তাদের সমর্থক এমনকি পরিবারের সদস্যদেরও নির্বিচারে জেলে ঢুকানো হচ্ছে। আর এসবই করা হচ্ছে।ফাঁকা মাঠে নির্বাচনী গোল দেয়ার লক্ষ্য থেকে। হাজার হাজার গায়েবী মামলা হচ্ছে। মৃত, গুরুতর অসুস্থ ও দেশের বাইরে থাকা মানুষকেও নাশকতার মামলায় আসামী করা হচ্ছে। এমন অপরাধের ঘটনায় মামলা করা হচ্ছে, যে ঘটনা কখনো আদৌ ঘটেনি।
তারপরেও আমাদের বিশ্বাস করতে বলা হবে, এই সরকার একটি অবাধ ও নিরপেক্ষ নির্বাচন উপহার দেবে। বড়ই আশ্চর্য!!
