When the school and college students in Bangladesh took to streets demanding safe roads four and a half months ago, goons of ruling Awami League party beat them up badly.
This video shows how the government-sponsored gangs thrashed and tortured even the girl students who took part in the protests. Many of the attacks took place under the nose of police. From the videos and photos which became viral in the social media it became easy to identify the attackers. Yet, the police never bothered to arrest any of those ruling party attackers.
On the other hand, police arrested an activist like photographer Shahidul Alam and tortured him in custody.
In the past 10 years Awami League has suppressed many citizen movements this way. The protesters were also labeled as militants and anti-liberation groups. Will our new generation vote for this Awami League?

বাংলাদেশে সাড়ে চার মাস আগে ঘটে যাওয়া স্কুল কলেজের ছাত্র ছাত্রীদের নিরাপদ সড়কের অহিংস আন্দোলন আওয়ামী লীগের গুণ্ডারা এভাবেই নির্মমভাবে পিটিয়ে দমন করে।
আপনারা ভিডিওতে দেখতে পাচ্ছেন ছাত্রীদেরকেও এই গুণ্ডারা রেহাই দিচ্ছেনা। তাদের পিটিয়ে রক্তাক্ত করেছে। কিন্তু পুলিস এই আক্রমণকারীদের কাউকেই ধরেনি। উল্টে শহীদুল আলম সহ অনেককেই গ্রেপ্তার করেছে, রিমান্ডে নিয়ে নির্যাতন করেছে।
গত দশ বছরে এই আওয়ামী লীগ সরকার সকল ন্যায়সঙ্গত নাগরিক আন্দোলন এভাবেই দমন করেছে। যারাই প্রতিবাদী তাদের রাজাকার, জঙ্গী বলে তাদের নির্মমতাকে বৈধ করেছে। আর এসব কিছুই তারা করেছে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনার নামে। এই প্রজন্ম কি আওয়ামী লীগকে ভোট দেবে?
