I am sure you all remember Rajshahi University student Tarikul who was thrashed with a hammer by a Chhatra League cadre during the movement for quota reform. The Chhatra League goons crushed the bones of his legs. Doctors of Rajshahi Medical College later discharged him from the hospital before his medical treatment was over there.
He is still sick with his wound having not healed as yet. He recently applied to sit for the university exam from his sick bed. The doctors said that he deserved to sit for his exam from his sick bed because his wounds were not healed. But, the VC of Rajshahi University has rejected Tarikul’s application. This is unprecedented. We have the right to ask what prompted the VC to go against Tarikul’s application

রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্র তরিকুলকে মনে আছে নিশ্চয়ই। তাকে ছাত্রলীগ হাতুড়ি দিয়ে পিটিয়ে পায়ের হাড় চুরমার করে দিয়েছিল। রাজশাহী মেডিক্যাল কলেজের চিকিৎসকেরা তার চিকিৎসা অসম্পূর্ণ রেখে হাসপাতাল থেকে ডিসচার্জ দিয়ে দিয়েছিল।
সে সম্প্রতি সিক বেডে পরীক্ষা দেবার জন্য আবেদন করেছিল কারণ তার ক্ষত এখনো শুকায়নি এবং এখনো সে পুরোপুরি সুস্থ নয়। চিকিৎসক তার অবস্থা বিবেচনায় তার যে সিক বেড পাওয়ার অধিকার আছে সেই মত দিয়েছে। অথচ রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য এই তরিকুলের এই আবেদন বাতিল করেছেন। এই ঘটনা নজিরবিহীন। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভিসি কোন বিবেচনায় তরিকুলের আবেদন বাতিল করেছে সেটা জানতে চাওয়ার অধিকার আমাদের আছে।
