This incident stands as an evidence of how some Awami League supporters can lower their moral standard to serve their selfish interest. I would like to document this case for historical reasons. All information about this case should remain in public domain for future reference.
Let me put down some info about two related incidents which will help you understand the latest incident well. Please watch the video after reading the details about the two incidents.
1. The main agenda of the military supported 1/11 government was to politically banish Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina. It was popularly called “Minus-two formula”. Then the West wrongly believed that the personal rivalry between the two top leaders of Bangladesh was the root cause of all troubles in the country. Bangladesh would be stable if the two “battling Begums” were banished from politics, they believed. The 1/11 government filed many police cases against the two leaders. After Hasina came to power in 2008, she withdrew all the cases which had been filed against her. She said, those were all “politically motivated” cases. But, she did not withdraw any of the cases which had been filed against Khaleda Zia. In one of those cases Khaleda Zia was convicted and jailed for five years. Later, following an appeal the jail term was extended to ten years, in an unprecedented manner. That case was related to the siphoning off fund from an orphanage. There was no evidence that Khaleda Zia personally misappropriated the fund. Yet, in its propaganda Awami League kept telling people that she stole the money meant for orphans.
2. When F R Tower of Banani caught fire a little boy tried his best to help the firefighters by plugging their leaking water pipe using some vinyl bags. The photo of that boy, aged nine or ten, in action became viral in the social media and hundreds of thousands of people turned emotional after they saw that photo. Later it came to light that the name of the boy was Nayeem and he lived in a slum. A Bangladeshi expat offered to reward Nayeem with US$ 5,000, to help him study well. Shahriyar Nazim Joy, a second-rate actor- who is also known as an Awami League supporter- interviewed Nayeem for a Bangladeshi TV channel. In that interview Nayeem said: “I will give away this amount (of 5,000 dollars) to an orphanage.” After Joy asked Nayeem why he wanted to give away the money to an orphanage, he said, “…because Khaleda Zia stole money from the fund which was meant for orphans.”
The interview of Nayeem by Joy triggered a nation-wide outrage because most people in Bangladesh do not believe that Khaleda Zia stole the fund meant for the orphans. Considering the young age of the child people did not tend to believe what Nayeem said came from his heart. Many charged, the little boy parroted what exactly Joy had taught him in the Awami supporter’s own interest. The next day an old letter written by Joy to Sheikh Hasina became viral in the social media. In that letter Joy addressed the PM as “ma” or “mother” and appealed to get a land plot in a posh area in Dhaka through an illegal favour.
Joy asked the leading question to Nayeem- “Will you accept the amount?” There are strong reasons to believe that he had taught Nayeem what he would answer when he was asked the questions in front of the camera.
Joy later refuted the charge and emphatically said that he had not taught anything to Nayeem. He would stop anchoring any TV show and leave acting if anyone could prove the charge. Now, Nayeem has admitted that he parroted what he had been taught.
A big section of the artistes in Bangladesh support the fascist rule in the country. So, people are actually not surprised at this immoral act of Joy.
The nationwide outrage that people showed after watching Nayeem’s TV interview by Joy has proved that Khaleda Zia is still very popular as a leader. It also shows that the supporters of the fascist rulers are widely disliked by people and they do not have a support base in the society.

আওয়ামী লীগ সমর্থকেরা নিজেদের হীন স্বার্থ চরিতার্থ করার জন্য কত নীচ হতে পারে সদ্য ঘটে যাওয়া এই ঘটনা তার প্রমাণ।
আমি এই ঘটনার পুরোটাই ঐতিহাসিক কারণে লিখে রাখতে চাই, যেন ভবিষ্যতের মানুষেরা এই ঘটনাগুলো জানতে পারে। এই ঘটনা পরিপূর্ণভাবে অনুধাবনের জন্য আমাকে একটা অন্য পুরানো ঘটনার কথা উল্লেখ করতে হচ্ছে। প্রথমে পুরানো ও পরে নুতন ঘটনার পুরো বর্ণনা পড়ার পরে সংযুক্ত ভিডিওটা দেখার অনুরোধ করবো।
১/ ওয়ান ইলেভেনের সামরিক বাহিনী সমর্থিত সরকারের একটা মূল এজেন্ডা ছিলো খালেদা জিয়া এবং শেখ হাসিনাকে বাংলাদেশের রাজনীতি থেকে নির্বাসিত করা। এটাকে পপুলারলি বলা হতো “মাইনাস টু” ফর্মুলা। সেইসময়ে পশ্চিম ভ্রান্তভাবে মনে করতো বাংলাদেশের সমস্ত সমস্যার মূলে এই দুই নেত্রীর ব্যক্তিগত ঝগড়া। তাই এই দুই “ব্যাটলিং বেগম” কে রাজনীতি থেকে নির্বাসিত করলে বাংলাদেশ রাজনৈতিকভাবে সুস্থির থাকবে, তারা মনে করতো। পশ্চিমের এই এজেন্ডা বাস্তবায়নের জন্য শেখ হাসিনা এবং খালেদা জিয়া দুজনের নামেই নানা মামলা দেয়া হয় ওয়ান ইলেভেনের সরকারের আমলে। শেখ হাসিনা ২০০৮ এ ক্ষমতায় আসার পরে তার নিজের নামের সব মামলাই প্রত্যাহার করা হয়। কারণ হিসেবে বলা হয় সেগুলো ছিলো রাজনৈতিক উদ্দেশ্যপ্রণোদিত। কিন্তু অন্যদিকে খালেদা জিয়ার বিরুদ্ধে ওয়ান ইলেভেনের সরকারের দেয়া সব মামলাই রেখে দেয়া হয়। সেই মামলাগুলোর একটা মামলায় খালেদা জিয়ার পাঁচ বছর কারাদন্ড দেয়া হয়। পরে আপিলে সেই কারাদন্ডকে নজিরবিহীনভাবে বাড়িয়ে দশ বছর করা হয়। মামলাটি ছিলো একটি এতিমখানার তহবিলের অনিয়ম নিয়ে। খালেদা জিয়া সেই তহবিল ব্যক্তিগতভাবে তছরুপ না করলেও আওয়ামী লীগ প্রচার চালায় যে তিনি এতিমের টাকা চুরি করেছেন।
২/ গত সপ্তাহে বনানীর এফ আর টাওয়ারে আগুন লাগার সময়ে দমকলের একটা ফুটো পাইপে পলিথিন পেঁচিয়ে নিজের ছোট শরীরের ভার দিয়ে কান্না কান্না মুখে একটা বছর আট-নয়ের ছেলে অগ্নি নির্বাপণে সাহায্য করছে এমন একটা ছবি ভাইরাল হয়। সারা দেশের মানুষ এই ছবি দেখে আবেগে আক্রান্ত হয়। সেই ছেলেটির নাম নাঈম এবং বস্তিতে থাকে বলে জানা যায়। একজন প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশী নাঈমকে ৫ হাজার ডলার দিতে চায় লেখাপড়ার জন্য। এই নাঈমকে নিয়ে বাংলাদেশের টিভি চ্যানেলে শাহরিয়ার নাজিম জয় নামে এক আওয়ামী সমর্থক, দ্বিতীয় সারির অভিনেতা ও ভাঁড়ামোপূর্ণ একটি অনুষ্ঠানের সঞ্চালক একটি টিভি সাক্ষাতকার প্রচার করে। সেই সাক্ষাতকারে নাঈমকে বলতে শোনা যায়, “আমি এই (পাঁচ হাজার ডলার) এতিমখানায় দিয়ে দেব।” শাহরিয়ার নাজিম জয় নাঈমকে আবার প্রশ্ন করে, কেন সে এই টাকা এতিম খানায় দিতে চায়? এর উত্তরে নাঈম বলে, কারণ খালেদা জিয়া এতিমের টাকা লুট করেছে।
এই সাক্ষাতকারটি বাংলাদেশের সমাজে ব্যপক প্রতিক্রিয়া সৃষ্টি করে কারণ বাংলাদেশের বেশীরভাগ মানুষ খালেদা জিয়া ব্যক্তিগতভাবে এতিমখানার অর্থ সরিয়েছিলেন তা মনে করেনা। এছাড়াও ছেলেটির যা বয়স তাতে তার এই উত্তরটা অত্যন্ত অস্বাভাবিক। এমনকি খালেদা জিয়ার নামে এতিমখানার অর্থ সংক্রান্ত কোনো মামলা হয়েছিল সেটাও তার না জানারই কথা। সেকারণেই নাজিম তার ব্যক্তিগত আকাঙ্খাকে বাস্তবায়ন করার জন্য ছোট ছেলেটিকে এই কথাগুলো শিখিয়ে দিয়েছে বলে অভিযোগ ওঠে। এর মধ্যেই সোশ্যাল মিডিয়াতে ভাইরাল হয় নাজিমের শেখ হাসিনাকে ‘মা’ সম্বোধন করে লেখা একটি আবেদনপত্র, যেখানে সে নিয়মভঙ্গ করে তাকে ঢাকার একটি অভিজাত এলাকায় একটি প্লট বরাদ্দ করার জন্য আবেদন করেছিলো।
নাজিমের বিরুদ্ধে নাঈমকে খালেদা জিয়ার বিরুদ্ধে কথা বলা শিখিয়ে দেয়ার অভিযোগের ভিত্তি আছে কারণ সে নাঈমকে লিডিং কোশ্চেন করছিলো। সে প্রশ্ন করার সময়েই বলেছে, ‘এই টাকাটা কি তুমি নেবে?’
পরে নাজিম চ্যালেঞ্জ দিয়ে বলে যে সে ছেলেটিকে এই উত্তর শিখিয়ে দেয়নি। কেউ প্রমাণ করে দিতে পারলে সে অভিনয় ও উপস্থাপনা ছেড়েদেবে। অবশেষে নাঈমই হাটে হাঁড়ি ভেঙ্গে জানালো যে তাকে ক্যামেরার সামনে এই কথাটা বলতে শিখিয়ে দেয়া হয়েছিলো।
বাংলাদেশের অভিনেতা অভিনেত্রীদের একটা বড় অংশই দেশের বর্তমান ফ্যাসিস্ট শাসনের সমর্থক। নাজিমের এই নৈতিকতা বিবর্জিত চালাকিতে তাই দেশের জনগণ বিস্মিত নয়।
নাজিমের বিরুদ্ধে এই ঘটনায় যে সামাজিক প্রতিক্রিয়া হয়েছে তাতে প্রমাণিত হয়েছে খালেদা জিয়া বাংলাদেশে ব্যাপকভাবে জনপ্রিয়, ফ্যাসিস্ট শাসকের সমর্থকেরা নিন্দিত এবং সমাজে তাদের কোন ভিত্তি নেই।
