BNP has accused, a secret meeting took place at the conference room on the fourth floor of Dhaka Officers Club on November 20 night. PM’s secretary Sajjadul Hassan, public administration secretary Fayez Ahmed, election commission secretary Helaluddin Ahmed, water resources secretary (former DG of the PMO) Kabir Bin Anwar, civil aviation secretary Mohibul Haque, divisional commissioner and city returning officer Ali Azam, APS-1 (daughter of Justice Kaji Golam Rasool) Kaji Nishat Rasul took part in that secret meeting. Top RAB, Dhaka Metropolitan Police and counter terrorism unit officials too were present in that closed-door meeting which took place between 7.30 pm and 10.00 pm, according to BNP.
In that meeting called “Election Engineering Set-Up and Review” different election-related issues were discussed. One DIG with the first name of Habib said in the meeting: “Awami League will certainly get 33 seats. The contest will be tough in 33 seats and the ruling party cannot win any of the remaining seats. Unless we do something in a terrible style, the ruling party cannot win the elections.”
People of the country happen to know about the officials who, according to BNP, were present in that November 20 meeting and they will take this charge seriously. These officials are known for their preeo-establishment leanings.
The government is busy making many preparations for the staged or pre-arranged elections. People have already seen how the charge of the election-related special security has been allocated among certain police and RAB officials. People should take the accusation from the BNP seriously and raise their voice and demand that these accused officials are kept away from any key responsibility during the elections.

এই উপস্থিত ছিলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সচিব সাজ্জাদুল হাসান, জনপ্রশাসন সচিব ফয়েজ আহমদ, নির্বাচন কমিশন সচিব হেলালুদ্দীন আহমদ, পানিসম্পদ সচিব (প্রধানমন্ত্রী কার্যালয়ের সাবেক ডিজি) কবির বিন আনোয়ার, বেসামরিক বিমান পরিবহন সচিব মহিবুল হক, ঢাকা বিভাগীয় কমিশনার ও মহানগরী রিটার্নিং অফিসার) সদস্যসচিব আলী আজম, প্রধানমন্ত্রীর এপিএস-১ (বিচারক কাজী গোলাম রসুলের মেয়ে) কাজী নিশাত রসুল। এ ছাড়া পুলিশের পক্ষ থেকে উপস্থিত ছিলেন র্যাব, ডিএমপি ও কাউন্টার টেররিজম ইউনিটের কর্মকর্তারা। রাত সাড়ে সাতটা থেকে আড়াই ঘণ্টা ধরে চলা এ বৈঠকে সারা দেশের ‘ইলেকশন ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং সেটআপ ও প্ল্যান রিভিউ’ করা হয়। বৈঠকে পুলিশের একজন ডিআইজি হাবিব বলেন, “পুলিশ সূত্রের খবর অনুযায়ী ৩৩টি সিট নৌকার কনফার্ম আছে এবং ৬০-৬৫টিতে কনটেস্ট হবে, বাকি আর কোনো সম্ভাবনা নেই। কাজেই সাংঘাতিক কিছু করা ছাড়া এটি উতরানো যাবে না।”
যাদের নাম বিএনপি নিয়েছে তাদের সম্পর্কে দেশবাসীর ধারণা আছে। তাই দেশবাসী এই অভিযোগকে গুরুত্বের সাথেই আমলে নেবে।
একটি পাতানো নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠানের জন্য দেশবাসী নানা তৎপরতাই লক্ষ্য করছে। এর আগে সারা দেশকে কয়েকটি বিশেষ অঞ্চলে ভাগ করে কয়েকজন বিশেষ পুলিস ও র্যাব কর্মকর্তার অধীনে দেয়ার আদেশ দেখেছে সবাই।
বিএনপির আমলযোগ্য এই অভিযোগের প্রেক্ষিতে সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচনের জন্য এই অভিযুক্ত কর্মকর্তাদের নির্বাচনী কর্তব্যের বাইরে রাখার দাবী তোলা উচিত।
