Abu Bakr Abu from Jashore aimed to contest the national elections on a BNP ticket. Five days ago he came to Dhaka after being called for an interview by the BNP bosses. He was abducted in Dhaka on Sunday and yesterday his body surfaced on the river of Buriganga.

In this case a ransom was demanded, soon after he was abducted. Abu’s family paid up that small amount of ransom. Yet, he got killed. The killers sought to pass it as a case of ordinary crime by a criminal gang. So, they involved ransom in it. But, it’s clear, he had not been abducted for ransom. All evidences suggest it was a case of targeted killing.

BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged, Abu had been abducted by men from law enforcement agencies, before he was murdered.

The probable Oikya Front election candidates are being removed from the fields this way. The international human rights groups should stand up in protest against such repressive actions which are targeting the opposition parties in Bangladesh, ahead of the national elections.

যশোরের বিএনপির মনোনয়নপ্রত্যাশী আবু বকর আবুর লাশ মিলেছে ​গতকাল ​রাজধানীর বুড়িগঙ্গা নদীতে।​

লাশ পাওয়ার চার দিন আগে আবু বিএনপির মনোনয়ন বোর্ডে সাক্ষাৎকার দিতে ঢাকায় এসেছিলেন। গত রবিবারে তাকে ঢাকাতে অপহর​ণ​ করা হয়, মুক্তিপণও চাওয়া হয়। পরিবার মুক্তিপ​ণ​ দেয়ার পরেও তাকে হত্যা করা হয়। মুক্তি​পণের টাকা ছিল ​অতি ​সামান্যই। তাই এটা ​মুক্তিপণের উদ্দ্যেশ্যে ​অপহর​ণ​ নয়, টার্গেটেড কিলিং​ বলেই মনে হয়​। ​যাতে এই ঘটনা অপহরণের মতো ​মনে​ হয় সেভাবেই হত্যাকাণ্ডকে সাজানো হয়েছে।
