The demand for a neutral government during the national elections is political one. The government has rejected this demand using an excuse of the Constitution while it has been doing many things which are certainly unconstitutional.
Awami League-led governments changed the Constitution several times in the past decades. Yet, Awami League is pretending that they never amended it. If the citizens believe the Constitution is not serving their political purpose they have the right to seek its amendment in a democracy. Political ambition of the people is more important than the Constitution. The government is doing a mischief by not agreeing to amend the Constitution now.
The Constitution of Bangladesh says: “This Constitution is, as the solemn expression of the will of the people, the supreme law of the Republic, and if any other law is inconsistent with this Constitution and other law shall, to the extent of the inconsistency, be void.”
The Constitution can never be used to safeguard a party’s non-political and dictatorial agenda and take to power through fraudulent means. In their interest, the Awami League-led governments have amended the Constitution several times in the past. But, now they are going against the will of the people and saying that the Constitution cannot be amended. Is it not a big joke?
Oikyofront is to take part in the elections. But, it continues to stick to its demand for a neutral government. Please come in support of the demand seeking a neutral government during the national election.

নির্বাচনকালীন নিরপেক্ষ সরকারের দাবীটা রাজনৈতিক দাবী। রাজনৈতিক দাবীকে সংবিধানের দোহাই দিয়ে নাকচ করে দেয়া হয়েছে।
এই সরকার প্রতিনিয়তই অসংখ্য অসাংবিধানিক কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। অথচ আওয়ামী লীগ এমন ভাব দেখাচ্ছে যেন তারা কস্মিনকালেও সংবিধানে সংশোধন করেনি। জনগণ যদি মনে করে, বিদ্যমান সংবিধান তাদের রাজনৈতিক আকাঙ্খার সাথে সঙ্গতিপূর্ণ নয়, তাহলে সেই সংবিধান পরিবর্তনের অধিকার জনগণের অবশ্যই আছে। জনগণের রাজনৈতিক আকাঙ্খা সংবিধানের চাইতে অবশ্যই বড়। সেকারনেই সংবিধানের দোহাই দিয়ে গণদাবীকে নাকচ করে দেয়াটা শয়তানি ছাড়া আর কিছুই নয়।
বাংলাদেশের সংবিধানের ৭(২) অনুচ্ছেদ বলা হয়েছে, “জনগণের অভিপ্রায়ের সর্বোচ্চ অভিব্যক্তিরূপে (solemn expression of the will of the people) এই সংবিধান প্রজাতন্ত্রের আইন এবং অন্য কোন আইন যদি এই সংবিধানের সাথে অসামঞ্জস্যপুর্ণ হয়, তাহা হইলে সেই আইনের যতখানি অসামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ, ততখানি বাতিল হইবে”।
এর মানে হচ্ছে, সংবিধান ততক্ষণই ‘প্রজাতন্ত্রের সর্বোচ্চ আইন’ যতক্ষণ তা ‘জনগণের অভিপ্রায়ের পরম অভিব্যক্তি’। জালিয়াতি করে জিতে আসার অরাজনৈতিক স্বৈরতান্ত্রিক আকাঙ্খার রক্ষাকবচ আমাদের সংবিধান হতে পারেনা। এই আওয়ামী লীগই অসংখ্যবার নিজের প্রয়োজনে সংবিধান সংশোধন করেছে। অথচ গন আকাঙ্খাকে নাকচ করে দিতে তারা সংবিধানের তথাকথিত “পবিত্রতার” অজুহাত তুলছে। কী তামাশা!
ঐক্যফ্রন্ট নির্বাচনে এসেছে কিন্তু নিরপেক্ষ সরকারের দাবী ত্যাগ করেনি, এটা সকলের মনে রাখার দরকার। নির্বাচনকালীন নিরপেক্ষ সরকারের দাবীকে সকল আলোচনার সামনে নিয়ে আসুন।
