A leader of the ruling Awami League party has chopped off the leg of a labourer in a barbaric style in front of his son. The leader said he would return the chopped leg after it becomes dry. In Bangladesh people are living under such barbarous medieval reign now.
Since Awami League retained power on the basis of a massively rigged election after its leaders and workers secretly stuffed the ballot boxes at night across the country, during the recent general election. Since the party took illicit route to grab power, it makes all attempts to scare people into silence. For this purpose it has inducted thousands of hoodlums into the party.
In fact scores of such savagely cruel incidents are taking places in which the ruling party goons are the perpetrators. Very few of them happen to come to light.
Earlier this month Awami League goons drove electric drill on to the legs of a man after he refused to pay a donation demanded by them. A few days ago, a police station officer-in-charge asked journalists to “manage” the situation by not reporting a case of police being thrashed by some hoodlums from Awami League. This way police send veiled warnings to the journalists and force them to stay away from reporting certain incidents.
Some days ago madrassa student Nusrat was burnt to death. In that case too Awami League leaders and workers were found involved and police tried to hush up the case.
I hope the international community is aware of how people are being subjected to savage cruelty in their daily life in Bangladesh.

দেখুন কি নির্মম কি নৃশংস এই ঘটনা!
পূর্ব শত্রুতার জের ধরে ক্ষমতাসীন দল আওয়ামী লীগের এক নেতা এক শ্রমিকের পা কেটে নিয়েছে তার পুত্রের চোখের সামনে। সেই নেতা শ্রমিকটির পা কেটে তা সঙ্গে নিয়ে চলে গেছে। নিয়ে যাবার সময় সে বলে গেছে কেটে নেয়া পা’টি শুকিয়ে সে ফেরত দেবে।
বাংলাদেশে এমন বর্বর শাসন চালু করেছে আওয়ামী লীগ। যেহেতু তারা জনগণের ভোটে নির্বাচিত নয়, ভোট নামের প্রহসন করে রাতের বেলা ভোট বাক্স ভরে ক্ষমতা আঁকড়ে বসে আছে, তাই জনগণকে ভয় দেখিয়ে চুপ করিয়ে রাখার জন্য দেশের সব দুর্বৃত্তদের দলে ঢুকিয়েছে।
সারা দেশেই এমন নির্মমতা চলছে কিন্তু তার সামান্যই প্রকাশিত হচ্ছে গণমাধ্যমে।
দাবি মতো চাঁদা না দেয়ায় এই মাসের প্রথমে আওয়ামী লীগের গুণ্ডারা এক যুবকের দু পায়ে ইলেকট্রিক ড্রিল দিয়ে গর্ত করে তাকে মারাত্মকভাবে জখম করে দেয়। (সেই সময়ে এই ঘটনা নিয়ে আমি একটা পোস্ট দিয়েছিলাম। কমেন্ট সেকশনে তার লিঙ্ক দিলাম)
কয়েকদিন আগে আমরা দেখেছি থানার এক ওসি আওয়ামী গুণ্ডাদের পুলিশ পিটানোর অভিযোগকে ধামাচাপা দেয়ার জন্য মিডিয়াকে নিজ দায়িত্বে ম্যানেজ করার কথা বলেছিলো। এই তথাকথিত “ম্যানেজ” করার অর্থ হচ্ছে ভয় দেখিয়ে সংবাদ প্রকাশ থেকে বিরত রাখা।
কিছুদিন আগে মাদ্রাসা ছাত্রী নুসরাতকে আগুনে পুড়িয়ে মারার ঘটনাতেও আমরা দেখেছি ক্ষমতাসীন আওয়ামী লীগের নেতা কর্মীরাই এই হত্যাকাণ্ডের সাথে জড়িত। আমরা এটাও দেখেছি পুলিশ কীভাবে এই ঘটনাকে ধামাচাপা দেয়ার চেষ্টা করেছিলো। এই রকম হাজারো অপরাধের মধ্যে দুই একটা জনগণের সামনে আসে।
আন্তর্জাতিক সম্প্রদায় কি এসব ঘটনায় বুঝতে পারছে বাংলাদেশের জনগণ কি ভয়াবহ পরিস্থিতির মধ্যে বাস করছে? পৃথিবীর কোনো দেশে এমন বর্বর নির্মম নৃশংসতা কি প্রকাশ্যে চলতে পারে?
