India’s currently ruling party of BJP all along keeps campaigning that Hindus are being persecuted in Bangladesh by the Muslims who are taking away their lands and other properties. Hindus face persecution in the country because of their faith, the Hindu nationalist party insists.
But, in this bdnews24 report you will find how a former Awami League MP and some other people took control of some Hindu Debottar properties or temporalities in Chapai Nawabganj recently. Interestingly, the person who helped the Awami League leader illegally occupy the property is a Hindu Sebayet who was attached to the properties. Even the government official, who helped legalise the illegal occupation of the property, happened to be a Hindu. Will you still call it a case of persecution of Hindus by Muslims?
I agree that persecution of the Hindus has increased in Bangladesh recently. But the latest incident of Chapai Nawabganj shows that you cannot brand such case of persecution as communal.
How will you term such cases and tackle them, then? BJP in India will keep on calling such cases as communal or anti-Hindu actions to polarise more Hindu votes in its favour without being accountable for such incidents any way. But, we, who live in Bangladesh, have to find ways to get rid of this problem in our interest.
Religious and ethnic minorities are present also in the Western world. But, the minorities live there quite safely. The Western countries have built their nations very well following all democratic norms for which all citizens, including the minorities, enjoy good protection there.
If you do some research, I am sure you will find that it is indeed not the case that only the Hindus are losing their citizenship rights in Bangladesh. This is completely incorrect an idea that the persecution which the Hindus face in Bangladesh is communal in nature.
The law and order situation has broken down in the country threatened with anarchy. In such situation people are becoming victims of persecution irrespective of their religious identities. Muslims being the largest religious community in Bangladesh, most victims of persecution in the country happen to be Muslim.
Ordinary people are being persecuted and even killed with the law and order situation deteriorating in the country. Persecution of both Hindus and non-Hindus in Bangladesh are linked to nothing but the collapse of the law and order situation in the country. Hindus are suffering along with all other people of the country.
A huge number of people have been victims of enforced disappearance, political killing and crossfire in Bangladesh in recent years. Hindus form 9% of the country’s population. Not even 1% of those forcibly disappeared or extra-judicially killed are from the Hindu community.
Compared to the Hindus, poor Muslims have lost twenty times larger amount lands to the land robbers in Bangladesh. And, the number of Islamic leaders killed in violence in recent years would be one hundred times more than the number of the killed Hindu priests.
Unless we succeed to change the current regime, which grabbed power through fraudulent elections and is running a corrupt anti-people government, no citizen in the country will prosper and be safe.

বাংলাদেশ সম্পর্কে ভারতের বিজেপির প্রচারণা হচ্ছে বাংলাদেশে হিন্দুরা মুসলমানদের নির্যাতনের শিকার হচ্ছে এবং তাঁদের জমি জমা দখল করে নেয়া হচ্ছে। এই হিন্দু জাতীয়তাবাদী পার্টি এমন প্রচারণাও করে যে হিন্দুরা তাদের ধর্মের জন্যই বাংলাদেশে আক্রান্ত হচ্ছে।
আপনারা এই সংবাদটি দেখুন। এখানে স্পষ্টভাবে বলা হয়েছে হিন্দুদের জমি দখল করেছে বিজেপির বাংলাদেশে রাজনৈতিক মিত্র আওয়ামী লীগের নেতা। তাও এই দখলকারী আবার আওয়ামী লীগের সাবেক সংসদ সদস্য। যে সম্পত্তি দখল করা হয়েছে, সেই দেবোত্তর সম্পত্তির সেবায়েত, যিনি একজন হিন্দু, তিনিই এই সম্পত্তি দখলে সাহায্য করেছেন। এমনকি সরকারের যে রেজিস্ট্রেশন কর্মকর্তা যিনি এই জমি দখল করাকে বৈধ করেছেন তিনিও একজন হিন্দু সম্প্রদায়ের লোক। এখন এই ঘটনাকে কি আপনি হিন্দু নির্যাতনের গল্প দিয়ে ব্যাখ্যা করতে পারবেন? নিশ্চয়ই সেটা করা সম্ভব হবেনা।
বাংলাদেশে হিন্দুদের ওপর সাম্প্রতিককালে নির্যাতন বেড়েছে তা আমি স্বীকার করি। কিন্তু এটাকে উপরোক্ত এই ধরণের ঘটনার কারণেই সাম্প্রদায়িকতা দিয়ে ব্যাখ্যা করা যায়না। তাহলে এই সমস্যাকে আপনি কী বলবেন এবং কীভাবে ট্যাকেল করবেন? এটাকে ভারতে বিজেপি তাদের ভোট বাক্স ভরার টুল হিসেবে ব্যবহার করতে পারে, এতে বিজেপির ষোল আনা লাভ আর কোন দায় নেই। কিন্তু আমি বা আপনি যারা এই সমস্যার মধ্যে বসবাস করছি তাঁদের এই সমস্যাকে উতরানোর পথ বাতলাতে হবে।
আপনি পশ্চিমা বিশ্ব দেখুন, সেখানে কি ধর্মীয় আর জাতিগত সংখ্যালঘু নেই? আছে। তাঁরা কীভাবে সংখ্যালঘুদের সুরক্ষা দিয়েছে? উত্তর খুব সোজা; তাঁরা একটা ঠিকঠাক রাষ্ট্র বানাতে পেরেছে যেটা তার সকল নাগরিককে সমান নাগরিক সুরক্ষা দেয়। আপনারা এই প্রশ্নের উত্তর নিজে খুঁজুন, বাংলাদেশ রাষ্ট্রে নিশ্চয়ই এমন কিছু নেই যার কারনে হিন্দুরা তার নাগরিক অধিকার পায়না।আর বাংলাদেশে শুধু কি হিন্দুরাই নাগরিক অধিকার থেকে বঞ্চিত হয়?
বাংলাদেশে হিন্দুরা সম্প্রদায় হিসেবে বিশেষভাবে নির্যাতিত হচ্ছে এই ধারণাই ভুল। সাধারণভাবে যে নৈরাজ্য এবং আইনশৃংখলা পরিস্থিতির অবনতি ঘটেছে, তাতে সকল সম্প্রদায়ের মানুষই নির্যাতিত হচ্ছে। যারা নির্যাতিত হচ্ছেন তাদের মধ্যে মুসলমানদের সংখ্যা সব থেকে বেশি, কারণ বাংলাদেশে তারাই বিপুলভাবে সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠ। বাংলাদেশের আপামর মানুষের ওপর যে নির্যাতন চলছে, হিন্দুদের ওপর নির্যাতন তা থেকে আলাদা বা বিচ্ছিন্ন কিছু নয়। হিন্দুরাও তো বাংলাদেশের জনগণের অংশ তাই তাঁরাও সামগ্রিক অরাজকতায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হচ্ছেন। অন্যদিকে দেখুন, বাংলাদেশের জনসংখ্যার প্রায় নয় শতাংশ হিন্দু। দেশে যে বিপুল পরিমাণে মানুষ গুম, রাজনৈতিক হত্যা ও ক্রসফায়ারের শিকার হয়েছে তার এক শতাংশও তো হিন্দু সম্প্রদায়ের লোক নন।
বাংলাদেশে হিন্দুরা যে পরিমানে জমি হারিয়েছে দরিদ্র মুসলমানেরা তার চাইতে বিশ গুন বেশী জমি হারিয়েছে ভুমি দস্যুদের কাছে। বাংলাদেশে যে কয়জন হিন্দু পুরোহিত সহিংসতায় নিহত হয়েছেন তার চাইতে একশো গুন বেশী মুসলমান আলেম সহিংসতায় নিহত হয়েছেন।
বিদ্যমান ফ্যাসিস্ট সরকার প্রতারণাপূর্ণ নির্বাচনের মধ্যে দিয়ে ক্ষমতা আঁকড়ে রেখে যে লুটপাটতন্ত্র কায়েম করেছে সেই ব্যবস্থাকে বদলানো না গেলে হিন্দু বা অহিন্দু কোনো নাগরিকেরই বিকাশ আর সুরক্ষা সম্ভব নয় বাংলাদেশে।
