On his Facebook wall Pial posted several slanderous statuses targeting Mahmudur Rahman in the past.
Pial moved out of Bangladesh because, according to his claim, he had faced serious threats from some extremists who objected to his writing. Now, after taking political asylum in Switzerland this blogger is sending threat to a newspaper editor in Bangladesh. I wonder, how one, who claims to be a freethinking blogger, issues such death threat against another writer-editor? And he is sending this open and direct threat to a writer in a hostile country while he is living in a safe country on Swiss taxpayers’ money. Is it morally acceptable?
It’s an established fact that a section of bloggers in Bangladesh has sided with the government. These bloggers are working in support of the government and are enjoying many privileges offered by it. For their political bias and such pro-government activities they are badly criticised by most citizens of the country. Some developed countries have provided refuge to some Bangladeshi bloggers. In Bangladesh these pro-government bloggers resorted to many immoral practices. Pial’s threat to Mahmudur Rahman is a proof that many of these bloggers are still indulging in many unethical nefarious practices.
I strongly believe that since Mahmudur Rahman have been regularly writing against the ongoing human rights abuses in Bangladesh- in many of which the State is accused- he has received this threat from a pro-government blogger.

উপরোক্ত ফেইসবুক স্ট্যাটাসের ভাষা প্রকারান্তরে মাহমুদুর রহমানকে প্রকাশ্যে প্রহারের হুমকির ইঙ্গিত প্রদান করছে। তার ফেইসবুক ওয়ালে মাহমুদুর রহমানের নামে নানা কুৎসা মুলক স্ট্যাটাস নিয়মিতই দেখা যায়।
নিজের লেখনীর উগ্র-সমালোচকদের কাছ থেকে জীবনের উপর হুমকীর অজুহাতে বাংলাদেশ থেকে সুইজারল্যান্ডে রাজনৈতিক আশ্রয় নিয়ে সেখান থেকেই এই হুমকিমুলক স্ট্যাটাস প্রকাশ করেছে। এবিষয়ে স্বাভাবিকভাবে প্রশ্ন হলো, যে ব্যক্তি নিজেকে ‘ফ্রী থিঙ্কার’ বা ‘মুক্তমনা’দের অন্তর্ভুক্ত ‘ব্লগার’ হিসেবে দাবী করে সেই ব্যক্তি কিভাবে অপর একজন ব্যক্তিকে প্রহারের হুমকী দেয়? সুইজারল্যান্ডের জনগনের করের টাকায় নিরাপদে পরিবার নিয়ে জীবন কাটিয়ে দেশে প্রতিকুল পরিবেশে অবস্থানরত সংবাদপত্রের সম্পাদককে প্রকাশ্যে প্রহারের হুমকি দেয়া নৈতিকভাবে কি আদৌ গ্রহনযোগ্য?
প্রতিষ্ঠিত সত্য হলো, বাংলাদেশের ব্লগারদের একটি অংশ বর্তমান সরকারের কাছ থেকে আর্থিক ও নানাবিধ সুবিধা গ্রহন করে সরকারের আজ্ঞাবহ হয়ে একতরফা রাজনৈতিক পক্ষপাতদুষ্ট অন্যায্য অবস্থান নিয়ে লেখালেখির কারনে দেশের সাধারণ নাগরিকদের কাছে ব্যপকভাবে সমালোচিত। বিভিন্ন রাষ্ট্র তাদের উদারনীতির নিদর্শন স্বরূপ কতিপয় বাংলাদেশী ব্লগারকে তাদের দেশে রাজনৈতিক আশ্রয় দিয়েছে। কিন্তু এই রাজনৈতিক আশ্রয়ের সুবিধাভোগী ব্যক্তিদের অন্যতম এই অমি রহমান পিয়াল মাহমুদুর রহমানকে হুমকী দিচ্ছে। বাংলাদেশের সরকারী সুবিধাভোগে ও সরকারের পক্ষে তথ্যবিকৃতি ঘটিয়ে যে অভ্যাস গড়ে উঠেছে, সেটা বহির্বিশ্বের আইনের শাসন নির্ভর রাষ্ট্রে বসবাস করেও সে এই অভ্যাস ত্যাগ করতে পারেনি। বর্তমানে রাষ্ট্রের চলমান নিপীড়ন ও গুরুতর মানবাধিকার লংঘনের বিষয়ে লেখনী অব্যাহত রাখার কারনে তাকে রাষ্ট্রের পক্ষাবলম্বন করে হুমকী দেওয়া হচ্ছে।
