Recently, in a seminar, H T Imam urged people to vote in favour of the pro-liberation war force during the upcoming national election. That way the votes will be go “in the interest of the nation”.
Mr Imam, advisor to the PM, said: “We must win the election. It will be disastrous for the country if the anti-liberation forces win the election.”
In a banner on the back of Mr Imam it was written: “Resist the anti-liberation force…”. In simple words it means, all contesting against the ruling Awami League in the election are anti-liberation political parties.
In all probability, Awami League’s main rival in this election is going to be the national alliance headed by Dr Kamal Hossain. Is Mr Imam saying that this alliance is a force against the 1971 liberation of Bangladesh? Dr Hossain headed the team that wrote the Constitution of the nation just after Bangladesh’s liberation. He was Bangladesh’s first foreign minister and an Awami League-nominated Presidential candidate. Now, in the view of Awami League and the current regime, Dr Hossain is an anti-liberation leader. It’s very surprising!
এইচ টি ইমাম সম্প্রতি এক সভায় ‘দেশের স্বার্থে’ আগামী নির্বাচনে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সপক্ষের শক্তিকে জয়ী করার জন্য সবার প্রতি আহ্বান জানান।
তিনি বলেন, “এই নির্বাচনে জয়ের কোনো বিকল্প নেই। যদি স্বাধীনতা বিপক্ষের শক্তি বিজয় অর্জন করে তাহলে দেশে বড় ধরনের ক্ষতি হয়ে যেতে পারে বলে আশঙ্কা করছি।”
উনার পিছনের ব্যানারেও লেখা আছে স্বাধীনতা বিরোধী অপশক্তিকে প্রতিহত করার আহবান। এর সরল অর্থ কি এটাই যারাই আওয়ামীলীগের বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করতে যাচ্ছে তারাই স্বাধীনতা বিরোধী?
আওয়ামীলীগের বিরুদ্ধে সম্ভবত মূল প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বী হতে যাচ্ছে ডঃ কামাল হোসেনের নেতৃত্বাধীন জাতীয় ঐক্য। তাহলে কি ইমাম সাহেব বলতে চাচ্ছেন এই জোট স্বাধীনতা বিরোধী? মুক্তিযুদ্ধের পরে সংবিধান প্রণয়ন কমিটির প্রধান, মুক্তিযুদ্ধ পরবর্তী বাংলাদেশের পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী, আওয়ামী লীগ মনোনীত একসময়ের রাষ্ট্রপতি প্রার্থী ডঃ কামাল হোসেনও হয়ে গেলেন স্বাধীনতা বিরোধী। বড়ই আশ্চর্য!!
