Pakistan released the Indian pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan two days after he was captured, as a gesture of goodwill and the global community welcomed the statesmanlike act of Imran Khan. But, a large section of the Indian mainstream media viewed Imran’s gesture in a completely different way. Some TV channels referred to Pakistan as ‘Fakistan’ and ‘Terroristan’. Some saw the release of the pilot as a “massive Indian victory”. At least one channel said: “Pakistan folds in fear”.
Would it have been called a victory for Pakistan if a Pakistani pilot got captured in India and later he was returned to his country?
During the liberation war of Bangladesh many Pakistani soldiers were held as POWs by India. They were identified as war criminals. They were not tried in India and were returned to Pakistan. Did India return those Pakistani soldiers out of fear? Was that gesture portrayed as a defeat for India?
These Indian media outlets have unmasked their ugly face by reacting to the release of the Indian pilot this way.

পাকিস্তানের হাতে ধৃত পাইলট অভিনন্দন বর্তমানকে পাকিস্তান ছেড়ে দিয়েছে শুভেচ্ছার নিদর্শন হিসেবে। ইমরান খান একজন রাষ্ট্রনায়কোচিত কাজ করেছে। সারা পৃথিবীর শান্তিকামী মানুষ পাকিস্তানের এই পদক্ষেপকে সাধুবাদ জানিয়েছে।
অথচ ভারতীয় মিডিয়া এই ঘটনাকে কীভাবে চিত্রিত করছে দেখুন। পাকিস্তানকে “ফেকিস্তান” ও “টেররিস্তান” বলেছে। এই পাইলটের ফেরত দেয়াকে ভারতের পক্ষে বিজয় ও পাকিস্তানের পরাজয় বলেছে। পাকিস্তান নাকি ভয়ে কুঁকড়ে অভিনন্দনকে ফেরত দিয়েছে, এক টিভি চ্যানেল বলেছে।
এখন যদি এক পাকিস্তানি পাইলট ভারতে ধরা পড়তো তাকে ফেরত দিলে কি ভারতের পরাজয় হতো? বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধে আটক হওয়া যুদ্ধাপরাধের দায়ে পাকিস্তানি সেনাদের কি ভারত পাকিস্তানের ভয়ে বিচার না করেই ফেরত দিয়েছিলো? পাকিস্তানি সেনাদের ফেরত দেয়াতে কি ভারতের পরাজয় হয়েছিলো?
এই সমস্ত মিডিয়া হাউসগুলি ভারতীয় সাংবাদিকতার এক জঘন্য রূপ আমাদের সামনে তুলে ধরেছে।
