Maroof Zaman, former ambassador to Qatar and Vietnam, remains missing after he disappeared a year ago. The government has not taken any visible initiative to trace him out since he was abducted.
Enforced disappearance is a crime against humanity.
In the past decades hundreds of such people disappeared in Bangladesh. Many like Mr Zaman remain untraced and their near and dear ones are running from pillar to post in search of them.
People with sanity can never speak in praise of this government. We have look for mental asylum for those who say they are happy with this government.

সাবেক কুটনীতিক মারুফ জামান একবছর হলো নিখোঁজ আছেন। তাকে তুলে নিয়ে যাবার পরে তাকে খুঁজে বের করার কোন দৃশ্যমান উদ্যোগ নেই। গুম করার পরে যাদের শুধু ল্যাপটপ হাতিয়ে নেয়ার খায়েশ থাকে তাদের আমরা চিনি। কেউ কেউ এসব প্রাইভেট ডিটেনশন সেন্টার থেকে ফিরে এসে তাদের অভিজ্ঞতা জানিয়েছেন।
গুম মানবতার বিরুদ্ধে অপরাধ।
এমন শত শত মানুষকে গুম করা হয়েছে গত দশ বছরে। এরপরেও যারা এই শাসনের গুণগান করে সেই বিকারগ্রস্থ মানুষদের কীভাবে কোথায় চিকিৎসা করা যায় সেটা আমাদের ভাবতে হবে।
