Our home minister said that the government can present evidence in support of the charges against the leaders and workers of BNP who are being arrested. According to a PROTHOM ALO report Abdul Ajijullah, a BNP convener of Dhaka’s Chakbazar area, died in May 2016. But, according to a police report, Abdullah led a bomb attack and threw stones at police in Dhaka on September- last week.
Local people said to the reporters that no bomb attack or stone-pelting had taken place there on September 5. BNP has long been accusing that the leaders and workers are being harassed and framed in trumped up cases. This Prothom Alo report shows that the accusation of the BNP is not without a basis.
However, some bad-mouthing people might say now: what’s wrong if a man who actually died years ago is found leading a bomb attack last week in a country where dead people are found casting their votes in elections?

স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী বলেছেন বিএনপির যেসমস্ত কর্মিদের ধরা হচ্ছে তাদের বিরুদ্ধে অপরাধের সুস্পষ্ট এভিডেন্স আছে, চাইলেই দেয়া যাবে। অথচ প্রথম আলোতে প্রকাশিত এই খবরে দেখা যাচ্ছে, রাজধানীর চকবাজার থানা বিএনপির আহ্বায়ক আব্দুল আজিজুল্লাহ মারা গেছেন ২০১৬ সালের মে মাসে। মৃত্যুর প্রায় ২৮ মাস পর তাঁকে একটি মামলার আসামি করেছে পুলিশ। প্রয়াত এই ব্যক্তির বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ, ৫ সেপ্টেম্বর ঢাকার পুরাতন কেন্দ্রীয় কারাগার এলাকায় পুলিশকে লক্ষ্য করে ইটপাটকেল ছুড়েছেন তিনি। এমনকি অন্য নেতা-কর্মীদের সঙ্গে ককটেলের বিস্ফোরণও ঘটিয়েছেন।
এদিকে স্থানীয়রা বলছেন, হামলা ও ককটেল বিস্ফোরণের যে কথা পুলিশ বলছে, সে রকম কিছু ওই দিন ঘটেইনি।
বিএনপি যে সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে তাদের কর্মিদের হয়রানিমুলক গ্রেফতারের অভিযোগ করছে সেটার সত্যতা আছে। অন্তত এই সংবাদে তা প্রমানিত হয়েছে।
তবে দুর্মুখেরা বলতে পারেন, মৃত ব্যক্তি ভোট দেবার নজির যখন আছে তখন মৃত ব্যক্তির ককটেল মারতে বাধা কোথায়?
