Sometimes I get different types of threats, online and offline. A Facebook friend has brought a discussion on open platform to my notice recently and it carries a serious threat. One NM Khan, who happens to be a middle-aged doctor in Dhaka, has issued this threat.
On a Facebook thread this doctor openly said: “Pinaki will be banned forever.” He means I would be killed. In another comment he said: “Pinaki will be assaulted physically.”
Awami League supporters in Bangladesh plan to harm and kill people this way. The perpetrators are not just the political goons. Even educated professionals are members of such gangs. This Facebook discussion stands as an example of how fascism has taken root across the country.
For many, including me, who write and criticise the government on different issues, survival appears to be very difficult in Bangladesh now.

আমি অনলাইনে এবং অফলাইনে নানা হুমকি পাই সরাসরি।
সদ্য ফেবুতে প্রকাশ্য প্লাটফর্মে দেয়া একটি হুমকি আমার নজরে এনেছেন আমার একজন ফেবু বন্ধু। এই হুমকি দিয়েছেন NM Khan, যার পুরো নাম নুরুল মোমিন খান। তিনি ঢাকাতেই থাকেন এবং পেশায় ডাক্তার। এই মধ্যবয়সী ডাক্তার প্রকাশ্যেই বলছে “পিনাকী চিরতরে ব্যান হবে” এর অর্থ পিনাকীকে মেরে ফেলা হবে।
এরপরের কমেন্টে বলা হচ্ছে, “পিনাকীকে ফিজিক্যালি এস্যাল্ট করা হবে।”
এই আওয়ামী সমর্থকেরা এভাবেই আক্রমন ও হত্যা করার প্রকাশ্য পরিকল্পনা করে। সেখানে যেমন পলিটিক্যাল গুণ্ডারা থাকে আবার থাকে উচ্চশিক্ষিত পেশাদার লোকেরাও। বাংলাদেশে কেমন ফ্যাসিবাদ কায়েম হয়েছে এই আলাপচারিতা তার কিছুটা নমুনা দিচ্ছে।
আমরা যারা লেখালেখি করে সরকারের নানা সমালোচনা করি বিভিন্ন ইসুতে, তাদের পক্ষে বেঁচে থাকাটাই দায় হয়ে পড়েছে বাংলাদেশে।
