After killing three villagers, including one fifth grade student, and wounding sixteen men, women and children in Thakurgaon BGB has filed a suit against the residents of the village. In an attempt to hide the heinous crime of murdering the citizens BGB has taken this legal step, it’s clear.
Abul Kashem, secretary of the Swechhasebak League of Bakua Union in Haripur upazila, was present on the spot when the BGB men fired on the villagers. The leader of the Swechhasebak League, a volunteer wing of the ruling Awami League party, said that Habibur Rahman, son of Hukum Gaji of Baharampur village and Najim of Ruhia village were carrying five cows to Jaduranihat cattle market to sell them.
Some BGB men from Betna border outpost detained the cows and tried to carry them to their camp. The two villagers said they could prove that they were their family cows and tried to resist their confiscation. Arif, a BGB member, pointed his gun at the two villagers and threatened to shoot them. Villagers, who were around, joined in and protested against the confiscation of the cows. Then the BGB men started firing at the villagers, leaving two villagers dead on the spot. The 12-year-old school student died on way to the hospital.
BGB claimed, they detained some cows smuggled in from India and they were forced to fire upon them after the armed smuggled attacked them violently. We have seen several video clips of the incident around the firing in Thakurgaon. We could not find footage of any armed attack on the BGB men. BGB has filed a trumped up case against the villagers to harass them further. We should keep protesting against the murders by the BGB in Thakurgaon. We have to bring the concerned BGB men and their command to justice for the cold-blooded murders.
The armed forces of the state have not got any licence to kill the people at their will.

ঠাকুরগাঁওয়ের হরিপুরে গ্রামবাসীর উপরে গুলি চালিয়ে ৫ম শ্রেনীর ছাত্র সহ তিনজনকে ঠান্ডা মাথায় হত্যা ও কমপক্ষে ষোলজন নারী শিশু সহ গ্রামবাসীকে আহত করার পরে সেই বিজিবিই গ্রামবাসীরা নামে মামলা দিয়েছে। নাগরিক হত্যার মতো জঘন্য অপরাধ লুকানোর চেষ্টায় বিজিবি এই পদক্ষেপ নিচ্ছে তা পরিষ্কার।
সেদিন ঘটনাস্থলে উপস্থিত হরিপুর উপজেলার বকুয়া ইউনিয়ন ক্ষমতাসীন আওয়ামী লীগের অঙ্গ সংগঠন স্বেচ্ছাসেবক লীগের সভাপতি আবুল কাশেম বলেছেন, মঙ্গলবার দুপুর ১২টার দিকে বহরমপুর গ্রামের হুকুম হাজীর ছেলে হবিবর রহমান দুটি গরু এবং রুহিয়া গ্রামের নাজিম তিনটি গরু জাদুরানিহাটে বিক্রির জন্য নিয়ে যাচ্ছিলেন।
ওই সময় বেতনা সীমান্ত ফাঁড়ির বিজিবি সদস্যরা গরুগুলো আটক করে ক্যাম্পে নিয়ে যেতে চায়। বৈধ কাগজ থাকা সত্ত্বেও কেন গরুগুলো নিয়ে যাওয়া হচ্ছে তা জানতে চাইলে আরিফ নামে বিজিবির এক সদস্য পেটে রাইফেলের নল ঠেকায়।
এ দৃশ্য দেখে গ্রামবাসী প্রতিবাদ করে। এ সময় বিজিবির সদস্যরা উত্তেজিত হয়ে এলোপাতাড়ি গুলি করতে শুরু করে। এতে ঘটনাস্থলেই নবাব ও সাদেক নামের দুই গ্রামবাসী মারা যান। এলোপাতাড়ি গুলিতে ৫ম শ্রেণির ছাত্র জয়নুলের শরীর ঝাঁজরা হয়ে যায়। হরিপুর উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে নিয়ে যাওয়ার পথে তার মৃত্যু হয়।
বিজিবির দাবি, ভারতীয় গরু জব্দ করায় সশস্ত্র চোরাকারবারীরা হামলা করলে তারা গুলি চালাতে বাধ্য হন। গুলি চালানোর ঘটনার একাধিক ভিডিও এসেছে। সেখানে বিজিবির উপরে হামলার কোন ঘটনা নেই। মিথ্যা অভিযোগে গ্রামবাসীদের হয়রানি করার যে পাঁয়তারা বিজিবি করছে সেটা নিয়ে দেশবাসীর প্রতিবাদ অব্যাহত রাখা উচিত। ঠান্ডা মাথায় গ্রামবাসীদের খুন যে বিজিবি সদস্যরা করেছে তারা সহ তাদের কমাণ্ডকে বিচারের আওতায় আনতে হবে।
অস্ত্রধারী সকল রাষ্ট্রীয় বাহিনীকে জনগণকে খুনের লাইসেন্স দেয়া হয়নি।
