Mashroof Hossain is a senior police officer, perhaps a Superintendent of Police or, SP. Although he is a government employee and a police officer, he has been continuously active on Facebook, indirectly supporting the ruling party of Bangladesh. Like a virtual hooligan he has been threatening people with dissenting opinions, by ganging up with the online foot soldiers of the ruling Awami League.
I will show you two of his recent Facebook comments in which he abused a highly qualified expat doctor. He even abused the doctor’s mother and sister online, using foul sexist language. In another comment he even threatened to slap a doctor to make him fall in line. Apparently, on this thread the doctor did not write anything provoking which might have triggered such abusing comments from the police officer. In fact the original status was written aiming to create a platform to abuse the doctor.
If this police officer openly abused this doctor’s mother and sister and threatened to hit him this way on a social media platform, he would have been fired from his job immediately. But in Bangladesh such police officer are rewarded for such activities.
This is interesting to note that this police officer was educated at Harvard University. He is modeling himself on some very popular online celebrities. He dreams to become an intellectual and a motivational speaker. He also wants to be a body builder, karateka and boxer. He cherishes many such ambitions. However, he has failed to be a professional policeman. He gets is salary from taxpayers’ money. But he is not doing his job the way he is supposed to do.
He went to study at Harvard. But, he could never get any real education there. No university in the world can actually educate such element.

রাষ্ট্রের কর্মচারী পুলিশ কর্মকর্তা হয়েও পরোক্ষভাবে শাসক দলের সমর্থনে বিরামহীন ভাবে ফেইসবুকে লিখে গেছে। শুধু তাই নয়, শাসকদলের অনলাইন ফুট সোলজারদের সাথে ভিন্নমতের মানুষের উপরে ভার্চুয়াল গুণ্ডামী করে গেছে।
আমি আজকে তার সম্প্রতি লেখা দুটি কমেন্ট আপনাদের সামনে তুলে ধরছি। যেখানে সে এক প্রবাসী উচ্চ শিক্ষিত চিকিৎসককে গালি দিতে গিয়ে সেই চিকিৎসকের মা আর বোনকে নিয়ে সেক্সিস্ট গালি দিয়েছে। আরেকটি কমেন্টে সেই চিকিৎসককে সে থাপ্পড় দিয়ে ভূত ছাড়ানোর প্রত্যয় ব্যক্ত করেছে। দৃশ্যত এই আলোচনার থ্রেডে সেই চিকিৎসক কিছুই লিখেননি যে তার প্রতিক্রিয়ায় তাকে এই কমেন্ট লিখতে বাধ্য করা হয়েছে। এই স্ট্যাটাস দেয়াই হয়েছে ভদ্রলোককে গালি দেয়ার জন্য।
কোন সভ্য দেশের পুলিশ কর্তা শাসক দলের কর্মী সমর্থকদের সাথে প্রকাশ্যে অনলাইনের সোশ্যাল প্ল্যাটফর্মে ভিন্নমতের মানুষের মা ও বোনকে সেক্সিস্ট গালি ও প্রহারের ইচ্ছা পোষণ করলে তৎক্ষণাৎ চাকুরি থেকে বরখাস্ত করা হতো। কিন্তু বাংলাদেশে এই ধরণের পুলিশ কর্তা পুরষ্কৃত হয়। এই পুলিশ কর্তাও হার্ভার্ডে পড়তে গেছে।
এই পুলিশ কর্তা একজন অনলাইন সেলিব্রিটি। সে বুদ্ধিজীবী হতে চায়, বডি বিল্ডার হতে চায়, বক্সার হতে চায়, মোটিভেশন্যাল স্পিকার হতে চায়, কারাতেকা হইতে চায়; হয়তো আরো কিছু হতে চায়। কিন্তু সে জনগণের ট্যাক্সের টাকায় বেতন নিয়ে যেই পেশাদার পুলিশ হবার কথা ছিলো সেটাই হতে পারেনি।
হার্ভার্ডে পড়তে গেলেও সভ্য দুনিয়ার আলো তার মগজে ঢোকেনি। মানিক বন্দোপাধ্যায়ের প্রাগৈতিহাসিক গল্পটির শেষাংশ ধার করে নিয়ে তাই বলতে হয়, যে ধারাবাহিক অন্ধকার মাতৃগর্ভ হইতে সংগ্ৰহ করিয়া দেহের অভ্যন্তরে লুকাইয়া এই লোক পৃথিবীতে আসিয়াছে এবং যে অন্ধকার তাহারা সন্তানের মাংসল আবেষ্টনীর মধ্যে গোপন রাখিয়া যাইবে তাহা প্রাগৈতিহাসিক। সে আজ পর্যন্ত হার্ভার্ডের আলোর নাগাল পায় নাই, কোনোদিন পাইবেও না।
