Brihadaranyaka Upanishad (6:4:18): “If one seeks to give birth to a son who will be a highly acclaimed scholar, expert in #Vedas, softspoken, grace many conferences with his presence and live a full life, she should eat veal or #beef(cow meat)- cooked with ghee.”
Why are the #Hindu #CowVigilantes in India killing people for slaughtering cows? If these vilgilantes read the Hindu scriptures they would have found how eating of cow meat is encouraged in Hinduism. It does not make sense when Hindutvabadis get angry with people who follow the teachings of Brihadaranyaka Upanishad and eat cow meat to get smart sons.
“আবার যদি কেউ এমন এক পুত্র কামনা করে যে হবে পণ্ডিত, বিখ্যাত, বহু সমাবেশে যাতায়াতকারী, মধুরভাষী, যে সবকয়টি বেদে পারঙ্গম হবে, যে পুর্ণ আয়ুষ্কাল জীবিত থাকবে, তাহলে তাঁদের উচিৎ মাংসের-হয় বাছুরের, নয় গোমাংসের-সঙ্গে রাঁধা অন্ন ঘৃত সহযোগে ভক্ষণ করা। এটা করলে তারা (সেইরকম পুত্র) উৎপাদন করতে সক্ষম হবে।”

গো রক্ষকেরা ঠিক কোন যুক্তিতে গো হত্যার অভিযোগে নরহত্যা করছে? এরা তো ধর্মগ্রন্থ পাঠ করলেও বুঝতে পারতো গোমাংস খাওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে ধর্মে কোন বাধা তো নেয়ই বরং নানা জায়গায় উৎসাহ দেয়া আছে। এখন যদি কেউ চৌকষ পুত্র কামনায় বৃহদারণ্যক উপনিষদের বাণী মানতে চায় তাতে হিন্দুত্ববাদীদের সমস্যা কোথায়?
