Pranab went ahead with the photo shoot making others stand around him, while he sat on the chair. However, that is not the only case where we found him at fault. People of Bangladesh view him as a symbol of Indian aggression in Bangladesh. Pranab publicly admitted that he had interfered in Bangladesh’s domestic politics and operation of the government. Naturally there is a mass hatred growing against this man in Bangladesh. Whenever we see Pranab, the image of Felani’s dangling body on the border and the dry beds of our rivers flash before our eyes. We can understand how we have been left out with our political rights robbed. People can go hungry quietly, but they will not tolerate external interference on their freedom and dignity.
Why will you call it an opposition against India? You cannot say that a group of people are against a country or nation if they oppose the policy or agenda of the government of that country. We are not against India. But we are standing against India’s policies, programmes and agendas involving Bangladesh. Even in India there are many Indian citizens who are opposing many Indian government policies. They are even dying on such fights. We are fighting against India’s government- we have no enmity with the Indians at all. Indians should consider how in Bangladesh we are drowned in political miseries.
We know that India as a nation has to act in its own interest. But, India should understand that as a political community Bangladesh is a different country which also has to act in its own interest. That Bangladeshi interest may go against India’s national interest. If India seeks to tactfully impose its own interest on Bangladesh its leaders will be pulled up in Bangladesh.
Those, who in Bangladesh you believe are India’s friends, have no support in the country. They belong to an elite class, which has long been discarded by the masses. You have adopted a wrong policy to deal with Bangladesh. If you do not correct yourselves you will suffer more in future.
প্রণবের দোষ শুধু নিজে চেয়ারে বসে ও অন্যদের দাড় করিয়া রেখে ছবি তোলাই নয়। বাংলাদেশের মানুষ প্রণবকে তার রাজনৈতিক অধিকার হরণের ও বাংলাদেশে ভারতীয় আগ্রাসনের প্রতীক হিসেবে দেখে। প্রণব নিজেই স্বীকার করেছে, সে বাংলাদেশের আভ্যন্তরীণ রাজনীতিতে এবং রাষ্ট্র পরিচালনার বিষয়ে হস্তক্ষেপ করেছে। এই মানুষের বিরুদ্ধে গণঘৃণা স্বাভাবিক। প্রণবকে দেখলেই সীমান্তে ফেলানির ঝুলন্ত লাশ আমাদের চোখে ভাসে; প্রণবকে দেখলেই আমাদের শুকিয়ে যাওয়া নদীগুলোর বুকের ধুধু বালুচর চোখে ভাসে; প্রণবকে দেখলেই আমাদের রাজনৈতিক অধিকারহীনতার কথা মনে পড়ে। মানুষ পেটের ক্ষুধা মেনে নেয় কিন্তু তার স্বাধীন ইচ্ছা আর মর্যাদায় হস্তক্ষেপ মেনে নেয়না।
আপনারা এটাকে ভারত বিরোধীতা বলতে চান। কোন রাষ্টের শাসকগোষ্ঠীর নীতি, কর্মসূচি, কার্যক্রম বা অভিপ্রায়ের বিরোধিতা করলেই কেউ সেই রাষ্ট্র বা দেশের ‘বিরোধী’ হয়ে যায় না। আমরা ‘ভারত বিরোধী’ নই; তবে বর্তমান ভারতের শাসকগোষ্ঠীর বিশেষ করে বাংলাদেশ নিয়ে বহু নীতি, কর্মসূচি, কার্যক্রম বা অভিপ্রায়ের আমরা তীব্র বিরোধিতা করি। অন্যদেরও বিরোধিতা করতে উৎসাহিত করি। ভারতেও বহু নাগরিক আছে যারা ভারত রাষ্ট্রের বহু নীতি-কর্মসূচির বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিমুহূর্তে লড়ছে এবং মরছে। আমরা ভারতের শাসকের বিরুদ্ধে লড়লেও; ভারতের জনগণের সাথে আমাদের কোন শত্রুতা নাই।
আমরা চাই ভারত রাষ্ট্রের জনগণ আমাদের এই রাজনৈতিক দুর্দশাকে আন্তরিকভাবে বিবেচনা করুক।
আমরা জানি রাষ্ট্র হিসেবে ভারতের কিছু স্বার্থ আছে। ভারতকেও বুঝতে হবে একটা পলিটিক্যাল কমিউনিটি হিসেবে আমরাও আলাদা রাষ্ট্র। আমাদেরও কিছু আলাদা স্বার্থ থাকবে। সেই স্বার্থ ভারত রাষ্ট্রের স্বার্থের বিরোধী হতেই পারে। সেখানে ভারত রাষ্ট্রের স্বার্থ আমাদের উপরে ছলে বলে কৌশলে শক্তি প্রয়োগে যদি চাপিয়ে দেয়ার চেষ্টা করা হয়, তাহলে আপনাদের নেতারা ঠিক এভাবেই বাংলাদেশে হেনস্থা হবেন।
যাদের আপনারা বাংলাদেশে ভারতের বন্ধু বলে মনে করেন তারা বাংলাদেশের কেউ নয়। এরা জনগনের সাথে সম্পর্কহীন এক এলিট গোষ্ঠী। তাদের চোখে বাংলাদেশকে না দেখে সাধারণ মানুষের চোখে বাংলাদেশকে দেখুন। আপনাদের বাংলাদেশকে দেখার তার সম্পর্কে সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়ার পদ্ধতি ভুল। এই ভুল সংশোধন না করলে ভবিষ্যৎ এ আরো এমন খেসারত দেবেন। ভেবে দেখুন কী করবেন।
