I would like to keep the international community informed that during distribution of food among children in some schools in Chittagong Hindu NGO ISKCON made the children chant “Hare Krishna Hare Ram” and “Mataji ki Prasad” (foods dedicated to a female God).
Bangladesh is a 90% Muslim country. Most students in most schools happen to be Muslim. All students were asked to chant hymns in praise of the Hindu Gods in several schools, local media reports have revealed. The video of the distribution of food and the chanting by an ISKCON monk and the little children was also posted by ISKCON in the organisation’s Facebook page.
I believe, ISKCON launched this food distribution and chanting programme in a heinous conspiracy to incite the majority Muslims and trigger a violent situation in Bangladesh. If Muslims in Bangladesh react violently to such incidents of making Muslim children chant Hindu hymns, India’s ruling Hindu nationalist party of BJP will take the opportunity to identify them as an anti-Hindu and violent community. It can help the BJP whip up an anti-Muslim passion in Hindu-majority India and win more Hindu votes. Bangladesh-based ISKCON leaders are working as tools for Hindutwa politics.
Today the High Court of Bangladesh said that any NGO may donate food in schools, but it would be “unethical or wrong” if it makes the children chant hymns by tempting them with food.
Members of the majority Muslim community are hurt and aggrieved after they knew of the ISKCON’s latest food distribution-related activities in Chittagong. Muslims raised voices of protest on this issue, but it was rather quiet and formal. Some Muslim social media users faced sexist, vulgar and virulent attacks from the pro-Hindutwa people after they wrote against the ISKCON’s chanting-related activities in the schools.
Hindutwa forces are hell-bent on triggering communal unrests in Bangladesh. We have to stand up against such forces in the interest of peace in our country.

আমি আন্তর্জাতিক সম্প্রদায়কে এটা জানিয়ে দেয়া কর্তব্য বলে মনে করছি যে বাংলাদেশের চট্টগ্রামে ইসকন নামের একটি হিন্দু ধর্মীয় এনজিও নজিরবিহীন ভাবে শিশুদের একাধিক স্কুলে খাবার বিতরণ করে সেই শিশুদের “হরে কৃষ্ণ হরে রাম” ও “মাতাজি কি প্রসাদ জয়” ধ্বনি দিতে বাধ্য করেছে।
বাংলাদেশের জনগণের ৯০% মুসলমান। সব স্কুলের বেশীরভাগ ছাত্রছাত্রী স্বাভাবিকভাবেই মুসলমান। অনেক স্কুলেই সব ছাত্রদেরকেই হিন্দুদের ভগবান কৃষ্ণের নামে মন্ত্র উচ্চারণ করানো হয়েছে। জাতীয় দৈনিকে প্রকাশিত সংবাদেও এই তথ্যের সত্যের নিশ্চয়তা পাওয়া গেছে। খাবার বা প্রসাদ বিতরণ ও মন্ত্রোচ্চারণের ভিডিও ইসকন নিজেই তাদের ফেইসবুক পেইজে পোষ্ট করেছিলো।
আমি মনে করি খাবার বিতরণের মাধ্যমে হরিনাম কীর্তন করানোর এই কাজটি একটি ষড়যন্ত্র এবং বাংলাদেশের সংখ্যাগুরু মুসলমান সম্প্রদায়কে ক্ষেপিয়ে তুলে একটি সহিংস পরিস্থিতি তৈরির ঘৃণ্য প্রচেষ্টা। বাংলাদেশের মুসলমানদের সহিংস প্রমাণ করে ভারতে মুসলমানদের বিরুদ্ধে হিন্দুদের হিংস্রভাবে উত্তেজিত করে বিজেপির হিন্দুত্ববাদী রাজনীতির পালে হাওয়া দেয়ার জন্য হিন্দুত্ববাদী রাজনীতির ক্রীড়নক হিসেবে ইসকনের স্থানীয় নেতারা এই কাজ করেছে।
আজ এমন কি হাইকোর্ট বেঞ্চ এই ঘটনায় বলেছে, ‘একটি এনজিও কোনও স্কুলে খাবার বিতরণ করতে পারে। কিন্তু জোর করে বা প্রলোভন দেখিয়ে যদি প্রসাদ খাইয়ে মন্ত্র পাঠ করিয়ে থাকে, তবে সেটা অন্যায়।’
বাংলাদেশের সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠ মুসলমান সম্প্রদায়ের লোকেরা এই ঘটনার ব্যথিত এবং ক্ষুব্ধ। এই ঘটনায় যেহেতু মুসলমান সম্প্রদায় শান্ত নিয়মতান্ত্রিক প্রতিবাদ জানিয়েছে তাই এই ঘটনায় যারা অনলাইনে প্রতিবাদ জানিয়েছে তাদের কমেন্ট বক্সে হিন্দুত্ববাদীরা মরিয়া হয়ে অশ্লীল, উস্কানি মুলক এবং সেক্সিস্ট গালিগালাজ অব্যাহত রেখে পরিস্থিতিকে ঘোলাটে করার প্রচেষ্টা অব্যাহত রেখেছে।
হিন্দুত্ববাদী ভারতের চক্রান্তে বাংলাদেশে অস্থিরতা সৃষ্টির হিন্দুত্ববাদী চক্রান্তের বিরুদ্ধে রুখে দাঁড়ান।
