In all national daily newspapers in Bangladesh, an organisation known as “Sompreeti Bangladesh” has published an advertisement which carries a “list of visible signs or characteristics to identify militants”.
It has been claimed in the advertisement that the list of the signs was prepared on the basis of a survey conducted among militants. There are good reasons why we should raise our voice against this advertisement.
Firstly, the claim that it was based on a survey on the militants is false. We do not know of any such published survey where such signs to identify militants were reported.
The dangerous aspect of this advert is that most of whatever a religious Muslim does while following his faith have been identified as the characteristics of an Islamist militant. This is nothing but the vilification of the religion of Islam. This advert can also be viewed as a campaign to dissuade Muslims from the regular practice of their faith.
The group behind this advertisement calls itself Sompreeti Bangladesh or Harmonious Bangladesh. But, this advertisement shows that they are attempting to trigger unrest in the society by spreading an Islamophobia. This advertisement deserves to be condemned by all who respect others’ religious rights. Sompreeti Bangladesh should issue a public apology for releasing this Islamophobic advertisement.

“সম্প্রীতি বাংলাদেশ” নামে একটা সংগঠন বাংলাদেশের সব জাতীয় দৈনিকে একটি বিজ্ঞাপন ছাপিয়েছে যেখানে জঙ্গী চিহ্নিত করার কিছু তরিকার তালিকা দেয়া হয়েছে।
সেখানে দাবী করা হয়েছে, কিছু জঙ্গীর উপর সমীক্ষা চালিয়ে এই লক্ষণ সমুহ উদ্ভাবন করা হয়েছে। প্রথমত এই দাবীটা মিথ্যা। এমন কোন প্রকাশিত জরিপ বা গবেষণা নাই যেখানে সম্প্রীতি বাংলাদেশ প্রদর্শিত জঙ্গী আইডেন্টিফাই করার এই লক্ষণ সমুহ বলা হয়েছে।
সবচেয়ে বিপদজনক ও হতাশাজনক হচ্ছে, একজন সাধারণ মুসলমানের জীবনে যে সমস্ত আচরণ থাকে সেগুলোকেও জঙ্গী আচরণ বলে চিহ্নিত করা হয়েছে। এটা মোটা দাগে ধর্ম অবমাননা। শুধু তাই নয়, এই বিজ্ঞাপনকে ইসলাম ধর্মের স্বাভাবিক আচরণকে নিরুৎসাহিত করার প্রচেষ্টা হিসেবেও চিহ্নিত করা যায়।
সম্প্রীতি বাংলাদেশ নাম দিয়ে অসম্প্রীতির কাজ আর ইসলাম বিদ্বেষ ছড়ানোর কাজ নিন্দনীয়। এই সংগঠনের বাংলাদেশের সকল নাগরিকের কাছে তাদের এই ধৃষ্টতার জন্য ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করা উচিত।
