This is a nice example of how those who are in power in Bangladesh often resort to cheating.
To commemorate the 99th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day the city administration in Dhaka planned a cleanliness drive in the city. Ahead of the inauguration of the programme yesterday, some city corporation workers brought in some rubbish and littered the Mayor Anisul Haque Street in Tejgaon. Later, in front of the media cameras, the local mayor Atiqul Islam began the cleanliness drive by cleaning the litters which had been dropped on the spot by his workers some time back.
No government cheats the citizens this way in a civilised country.
Sometime ago, workers littered a road in the same style before PM Narendra Modi reached the spot, cleaned some of the litters using a broomstick while inaugurating a cleanliness programme.
We are thankful to the cameraman or video-journalist who took the video of the littering of the street ahead of the programme. This regime in Bangladesh often flaunts of many such so-called development-related activities in the country. The global community should take such claims with a pinch of salt.

১৭ মার্চ দুপুরে বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের ৯৯তম জন্মবার্ষিকী ও জাতীয় শিশু দিবস উপলক্ষে ‘বিশেষ পরিচ্ছন্নতা অভিযান ও দেয়ালচিত্র’ কর্মসূচীর উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে পরিষ্কার রাস্তায় ঢাকা সিটি কর্পোরেশনের কর্মী দিয়ে ময়লা ছড়িয়ে সেই ময়লা পরিষ্কার করে বিশেষ পরিচ্ছন্নতা অভিযানের উদ্বোধন করা হয়েছে। রাজধানীর তেজগাঁওয়ের সাত রাস্তা সংলগ্ন মেয়র আনিসুল হক সড়কে এ কর্মসূচী উদ্বোধন করেন ডিএনসিসি’র মেয়র আতিকুল ইসলাম। পৃথিবীর কোন সভ্য দেশে সরকার এভাবে প্রতারণা করেনা।
কয়েক বছর আগে ভারতে ঠিক একইভাবে একটি পরিষ্কার জায়গায় কিছু জঞ্জাল ফেলা হয়েছিলো শুধুমাত্র তা প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদীর ঝাঁটা দিয়ে পরিষ্কার করার জন্য।
বাংলাদেশ সরকারের দুর্ভাগ্য তাদের গতকালের বিশেষ পরিচ্ছন্নতা অভিযান শুরুর ঠিক আগেকার ময়লা ছড়ানোর ঘটনার ভিডিও কেউ রেকর্ড করে ফেলেছিলো। এই সরকারের যে কোন প্রচার যে কোন বয়ান ইংরেজীতে যাকে বলে ‘পিঞ্চ অব সল্ট’ তা দিয়ে বিশ্ববাসীর গ্রহণ করা উচিত।
