The heart-warming message which you sent to Wing Commander Abhinandan’s son reminds me of my early days when taking along my 2-year-old sister and me, in the company of 1 crore people, my parents fled East Pakistan and took refuge in India.
They had to flee East Pakistan because your predecessors, armed with advanced weapons, pounced upon the unarmed East Pakistanis. The offence of those people was that they chose to vote for the candidates of their choice.
Your predecessors turned East Pakistan into a hell then. They committed barbaric massacre. Even women and children were not spared. They detained some lakhs of women in the army camps and raped them. If your latest message to Bunny came from the bottom of your heart, you should also beg forgiveness for whatever your predecessors did 48 years ago.

প্রিয় পাকিস্তানি সেনাবাহিনী,
উইং কমান্ডার অভিনন্দনের পুত্রসন্তানকে পাঠানো আপনাদের এই হৃদয় নিংড়ানো বার্তা আমাকে মুহূর্তের মধ্যেই আমার শৈশবে ফিরিয়ে নিয়ে গেলো যখন আমার বাবা মা আমাকে আর আমার দুই বছর বয়সী বোনকে নিয়ে আরো এক কোটি পূর্ব পাকিস্তানিদের সাথে প্রাণ নিয়ে শরণার্থী হয়ে ভারতে পালিয়েছিলো।
তারা ভারতে গিয়ে আশ্রয় নিয়েছিলো কারণ আপনার পূর্বসূরীরা সেই সময়ের পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের নিরস্ত্র জনগণের উপরে অত্যাধুনিক অস্ত্র নিয়ে বিপুল জিঘাংসায় ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়েছিলো। তাদের অপরাধ ছিলো তারা তাদের পছন্দের প্রার্থীদেরকে ভোট দিয়েছিলো।
আপনাদের পূর্বসূরীরা এই ভুখণ্ডে অত্যাচারের এক নরক তৈরি করেছিলো। স্মরণকালের জঘন্যতম বর্বর গণহত্যা চালিয়েছিলো, সেই গনহত্যা থেকে নারী শিশুরাও রেহাই পায়নি। কয়েক লক্ষ নারীকে তোমাদের পূর্বসূরীরা সেইসময়ে সেনা ক্যাম্পে আটকে রেখে ধর্ষণ করেছিলো।
আপনাদের আজকের এই উপলব্ধি যদি সত্য হয়; তাহলে কি মনে হয়না আপনাদের পূর্বসূরীদের কৃত কর্মের জন্য আপনাদের বাহিনীর নতমস্তকে বাংলাদেশের জনগণের কাছে ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করা উচিত?
