Awami League-led government identifies itself as non-communal, secular and progressive. And, it calls its political rivals fundamentalist, fanatic and backward. But, we can present an example which exposes the communal face of this government.
In at least one school text book, published by the government, non-Muslims have been described as liars, property-grabbers and even “worse than animals”. In government school curriculum children are being taught to hate non-Muslims.
In the fifth grade text book on “Islam and Moral Education” non-Muslims are being introduced this way in pages 16 and 17. National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) cleared this book for introduction in the government schools. Interestingly, the chairman of NCTB is a Hindu- Narayan Chandra Saha. He has to remain responsible for the contents- which are not at all based on facts- of the textbook.
In Islam non-Muslims are not viewed the way this school textbook describes. They call themselves champions of secularism. But, in reality, they spread communal hatred, by using government fund.

আওয়ামী লীগ সরকার নিজেদের অসাম্প্রদায়িক, সেক্যুলার ও প্রগতিশীল বলে দাবী করে।
আওয়ামী লীগ তাদের বিরোধিতাকারীদের মৌলবাদী, ধর্মান্ধ, পশ্চাৎপদ ও প্রতিক্রিয়াশীল বলে প্রচার চালায়। কিন্তু আওয়ামী লীগ সরকার আদতে রাষ্ট্র ও সমাজে কী ধরণের নৈতিক শিক্ষা দিয়ে থাকে তার একটা জ্বলন্ত প্রমাণ পাওয়া গেছে সম্প্রতি। আওয়ামী লীগ আমলে প্রকাশিত সরকারি পাঠ্যবইয়ে অমুসলিমদেরকে মিথ্যাবাদী,সম্পদ আত্মসাৎকারী এমনকি ‘পশুর চেয়ে অধম’ হিসেবে বর্ণনা করা হয়েছে। যারা মুসলিম নয় তাদের বিরুদ্ধে সরকারী পাঠ্যক্রমে এভাবেই ঘৃণা উৎপাদন করা হয়েছে।
পঞ্চম শ্রেণীর ‘ইসলাম ধর্ম ও নৈতিকতা শিক্ষা’ বইয়ের ১৬ ও ১৭ নম্বর পৃষ্ঠায় এভাবেই অমুসলিমদেরকে পরিচয় দেওয়া হয়েছে। জাতীয় পাঠ্যক্রম ও পাঠ্যপুস্তক বোর্ড এনসিটিবি এই বই চূড়ান্ত করেছে। খুব কৌতূহলোদ্দীপক হচ্ছে এনসিটিবির চেয়ারম্যান হচ্ছেন নারায়ন চন্দ্র সাহা। তিনি যেহেতু এই পাঠ্যক্রম অনুমোদনের জন্য সরকারী প্রতিষ্ঠানের কর্তা, তাই তিনি নিজেও এই পাঠ্যপুস্তকের কোনো বিষয়বস্তুর দায় এড়াতে পারেন না।
বইগুলোর লেখকেরা সবকিছুই নিজের মনগড়া কথার আলোকে লিখেছে।সংশ্লিষ্ট বইয়ে অমুসলমানদের যেভাবে চিত্রিত করা হয়েছে ইসলাম ধর্মে আদৌ সেভাবে অমুসলমানদের চিত্রিত করা নেই। বাংলাদেশে সেক্যুলারিজম আর অসাম্প্রদায়িকতার স্বঘোষিত চ্যাম্পিয়ানরা এভাবেই সরকারী অর্থে সমাজের ভিতরে সাম্প্রদায়িক ঘৃণার প্রচার করে চলেছে।
