The government of Bangladesh has to give answers to some questions in the case of yesterday’s reported attempt to hijack a plane.
Several passengers told the media that the man who was identified as the hijacker carried a gun and they heard gunshots inside the flight. Before boarding the international flight he had to go through at least three levels of security check. How did he manage to pass through the checkpoints carrying the pistol with live ammunition? After such a massive security lapse took place in airport yesterday, we have good reason to believe that the airport authority in Dhaka is exposing the lives of thousands of air passengers to a very high level of risk.
It’s difficult to believe that the man attempted to hijack the plane just with the aim to be able to speak to the PM. The man was injured after the security personnel fired at him. And, he died because of the gunshot injuries. He was aggressive and did not want to surrender for which he was fired upon, it was reported. Why did he allow the passengers leave the aircraft without holding them to ransom if he was in an aggressive mood to hijack the plane? Is this not mysterious?
Air Vice Marshal M Naim Hassan, chairman of Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority, said to journalists last night that one toy pistol and a nail cutter had been recovered from the hijacker. I find it difficult to figure out how using his toy pistol he turned aggressive in front of the professional commandos.
Did the hijacker actually tell anyone that he had been jilted by a film star? What was the motive of the hijacker? Why did he take such a big risk attempting to hijack a plane? It was reported that the commandos shot the hijacker on his leg or legs. This is also not clear how he died so quickly after receiving gunshots on leg? The whole country was seething in anger after the Chawkbazar fire tragedy. Now their attention has been drawn to yesterday’s attempted plane hijacking.

গতকালের কথিত বিমান ছিনতাই প্রচেষ্টা নিয়ে কয়েকটা প্রশ্নের উত্তর সরকারকে দিতে হবে।
কয়েকজন যাত্রী বলেছে তারা কথিত ছিনতাইকারীকে একটি অস্ত্র বহন করতে দেখেছে এবং তারা বিমানের ভিতরে গুলির শব্দ শুনেছে। একটি আন্তর্জাতিক ফ্লাইটে আরোহণ করার আগে অন্য যাত্রীর মতোই তাকে তিন স্তরের নিরাপত্তা তল্লাসির মধ্যে দিয়ে যেতে হয়েছে। এই নিরাপত্তা বেষ্টনী পার হয়ে কীভাবে একজন একটা জলজ্যান্ত পিস্তল আর তাজা গুলি নিয়ে বিমানে চড়ে বসে? এই ঘটনা প্রমাণ করেছে, দুর্বল এই নিরাপত্তা তল্লাসির কারণে এয়ারপোর্ট কর্তৃপক্ষ প্রতিনিয়ত হাজারো মানুষের জীবনকে মারাত্মক ঝুঁকির মুখে ফেলছে।
এটা বিশ্বাস করা কষ্ট যে শুধুমাত্র প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সাথে কথা বলার জন্য কেউ একটা আস্ত বিমান হাইজ্যাক করার চেষ্টা করে! দাবী করা হচ্ছে বিমান ছিনতাইকারী আক্রমণাত্মক ছিলো তাই তাকে গুলি করা হয়েছে, যেই গুলিতে কিছুক্ষনের মধ্যেই তার মৃত্যু হয়। ছিনতাইকারী তো নিরাপদে পাইলটসহ সব যাত্রীকে নেমে যেতে দিয়েছে; আক্রমনাত্মক হলে তো তার প্রথমেই যাত্রীদের জিম্মি করার কথা যা সে করেনি। এটা কি রহস্যজনক নয়?
বাংলাদেশ সিভিল এভিয়েশন কর্তৃপক্ষের চেয়ারম্যান এয়ার ভাইস মার্শাল এম নাইম হাসান সাংবাদিকদের কাল রাতেই জানান যে ছিনতাইকারীর কাছে নেইল কাটার ও খেলনা পিস্তল পাওয়া গিয়েছে। এই খেলনা পিস্তল নিয়ে পেশাদার কম্যাণ্ডো বাহিনীর সামনে কীভাবে ওই ছিনতাইকারী আক্রমনাত্মক হয়ে উঠলো তাও বোধগম্য হচ্ছেনা?
সে যে চিত্রনায়িকার ব্যর্থ প্রেমিক সেটা কি ছিনতাইকারী কাউকে বলেছে? এই ছিনতাইয়ের মোটিভটা কী? কেন এই মারাত্মক ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ ঘটনা সে ঘটাতে গেল এবং জীবন দিলো? ছিনতাইকারীকে নাকি পায়ে গুলি করা হয়েছিলো। পায়ে গুলি নিয়ে একজন মানুষ এতো দ্রুত মারা যায় কীভাবে? তবে চকবাজারের অগ্নিকাণ্ডের পরে সারা দেশ যে ক্ষোভে ফুঁসছিলো তাদের নজর যে এই আপাত রুদ্ধশ্বাস বিমান ছিনতাই ঘটনার দিকেই নিবদ্ধ ছিল সে বিষয়ে কোন সন্দেহ নাই।
