Abu Taher, an Awami League leader and mayor of Lakshmipur, has threatened that he would dig big holes on the roads at night and teach the voters a lesson if the local candidate of his party does not get at least 80% of votes in the upcoming national election.
Taher’s three sons were prosecuted in several murder cases. Taher and his wife too were prosecuted in some murder cases. One of his sons was freed some months ago following a Presidential pardon.
“You do not have any idea how bad I can turn (if my party gets rejected by the voters),” Taher said in his threat.
This way the Awami League leaders threat people and use force to win power. Will you call it a free and fair election?

লক্ষ্মীপুরের মেয়র আওয়ামী লীগ নেতা আবু তাহের ভোটারদের হুমকি দিয়েছেন আওয়ামী লীগ প্রার্থী ৮০% ভোট না পেলে তিনি ভোটারদের “সাইজ করে” দেবেন, রাতে রাস্তা খুঁড়ে ফেলবেন।
আবু তাহেরের তিন ছেলেই একাধিক খুনের মামলার আসামি। এমনকি তাহের ও তাঁর স্ত্রীও খুনের মামলার আসামী ছিলেন। সম্প্রতি এক পুত্র রাষ্ট্রপতির ক্ষমায় মুক্ত। তাহের তাঁর ভোটারদের স্মরণ করিয়ে দিয়ে বলেছেন, “আমি কত খারাপ মানুষ তা আপনারা জানেন না।”
এরা এভাবেই নির্বাচিত হয়ে এসেছে। আবারো নির্বাচিত হবার পায়তারা করছে। এইটাকে কি কোনো দেশে নির্বাচন বলে?
