Two pro-Awami League journalists lambasted Nipun Roy Chowdhury on “Ekattor TV” because of the allegation that activists of her party set fire to a police vehicle. Although some journalists reported that the BNP activists torched the vehicle, the opposition party has denied the charge.
On June 1, 2017, “Bangladesh Protidin”, a Bengali language national newspaper, carried a report in which an Awami League (AL) leader leveled a very serious allegation against AL MP of Barishal-4 (Hijla-Mehendiganj) Pankaj Debnath. According to that news report, Md Moidul Islam, president of Mehendiganj upojela AL and chairman of Jela Parishad, said: “…MP Pankaj Debnath was involved in the December 2, 2014, petrol bomb attack on a Bihango Poribahon bus in which 11 passengers, including the driver, were killed.
“Pankaj engineered that bomb attack to make the PM happy and ensure that he wins nomination in next elections again,” Islam added.
These pro-Awami League journalists, like the ones who are with Ekattor TV, are really shameless. They do not find anything wrong when supporters of Awami League beat up or kill people on the streets of Dhaka. In their view there is nothing wrong when Chhatra League president murders seven students in brush fire in a student hall in Dhaka University or, during a strike called by AL the ruling party supporters take off the clothing of people and take their photos. There is no problem when a university Chhatra League leader celebrates the hundreth case of rape.
BNP leaders should tell these pro-Awami League biased unprofessional journalists that they can compensate the loss of a police vehicle by paying some lakh rupees. Bnp leaders should ask those journalists: “Can you return the lives of those 1,877 unfortunate people who you all killed in so-called cross-fire in the past 10 years?”

একাত্তর টিভিতে দেখলাম দুই আওয়ামী সাংবাদিক নিপুণ রায় চৌধুরিকে বিএনপির সমর্থকরা পুলিশের গাড়ী পুড়িয়েছে সেই অভিযোগ নিয়ে খুব কথা শুনাইতেছেন। কিছু সাংবাদিকদের দাবী বিএনপি গাড়ি পুড়িয়েছে। যদিও বিএনপি এই দাবীকে অস্বীকার করে আসছে।
গাড়ি পোড়ানো নিয়ে কিছু জরুরী কথা সেই সাংবাদিকদের বলা উচিত ছিলো।
বাংলাদশ প্রতিদিনে ২০১৭ সালের ১ জুন একটা সংবাদ প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল। সেখানে আওয়ামী লীগের এমপি বরিশাল-৪ (হিজলা-মেহেন্দীগঞ্জ) আসনের এমপি স্বেচ্ছাসেবক লীগের কেন্দ্রীয় সাধারণ সম্পাদক পংকজ দেবনাথের বিরুদ্ধে একটা মারাত্মক অভিযোগ করেছিলেন আরেক আওয়ামী লীগ নেতা।
মেহেন্দীগঞ্জ উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগ সভাপতি ও জেলা পরিষদ চেয়ারম্যান মো. মইদুল ইসলাম বলেছিলেন, “২০১৪ সালের ২ ডিসেম্বর রাজধানীর শাহবাগে বিহঙ্গ পরিবহণের বাসে পেট্রলবোমা হামলা চালিয়ে চালকসহ ১১ যাত্রী পুড়িয়ে মারার ঘটনায় স্বেচ্ছাসেবক লীগের কেন্দ্রীয় সাধারণ সম্পাদক ও বরিশাল-৪ আসনের এমপি পংকজ দেবনাথ জড়িত।”
মইদুল আরো বলেন, “প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে খুশি করতে এবং মনোনয়ন নিশ্চিত করতে পংকজের নির্দেশে তার মালিকানাধীন বিহঙ্গ পরিবহণের বাসে পেট্রলবোমা নিক্ষেপ করা হয়।”
আওয়ামী সমর্থক এইসব দলবাজ সাংবাদিকেরা এতোই নির্লজ্জ যে, ঢাকার রাস্তায় লগি বৈঠা দিয়ে পিটিয়ে মানুষ হত্যা তাদের কাছে কোন অপরাধ নয়, ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ছাত্রলীগ সভাপতির ব্রাস ফায়ারে ছাত্র হলে সাত ছাত্রকে খুন করে দেয়া কোন সমস্যা নয়। আওয়ামী লীগের হরতালে অফিস যাত্রীকে দিগম্বর করে ছবি তোলা কোন সমস্যা নয়। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ছাত্রলীগ নেতা শততম ধর্ষণকে সেলিব্রেট করাটাও কোন সমস্যা নয়।
বিএনপির পক্ষ থেকে এই দলবাজ সাংবাদিকদের বলা উচিত, আমরা তো চাইলে এই গাড়ি কিনে ক্ষতিপুরণ দিতে পারবো, তোমরা গত দশ বছরে ক্রস ফায়ারে মেরে ফেলা ১৮৭৭ জন হতভাগ্যকে ফেরত দাও।
