Manab Zamin newspaper has exposed how powerful people use security agencies to kill people extrajudicially in #Bangladesh.
While briefing a reporter of Manab Zamin about the current situation of his constituency, #AwamiLeague party leader and sitting Member of Parilament Dr Enamur Rahman explained how he had silenced the local “goons”.
“There were many goons in Savar. Now, all of them have been silenced. I have got five of them killed in (fake) #Crossfire. And, I have prepared a list of 14 others (who will be added to that list). A few of them fell at my feet and begged forgiveness. ‘Don’t kill us. We will become good people,’ they said,” the MP said.
A public representative is openly admitting that he got people killed in so-called crossfire. These elected people are killing people according to their whims which amounts to severe level of violation of #HumanRights. There is no local agency to monitor such violations. Even the internaional agencies, it seems, are overlooking these incidents in Bangladesh. We don’t know when and how we will be able to get rid of this culture of rampant human rights violations and prevailing impunity.

বাংলাদেশে এক্সটা জুডিশিয়াল কিলিং ক্ষমতাবানদের নির্দেশে আইন শৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর মাধ্যমে কীভাবে হয় এটার জলজ্যান্ত প্রমাণ এসেছে মানবজমিন পত্রিকায়। সাভারের বর্তমান এমপি ডা. এনামুর রহমান নির্বাচনী এলাকার সার্বিক পরিস্থিতি সম্পর্কে মোবাইল ফোনে মানবজমিনকে দেয়া সাক্ষাৎকারে বলেন, সাভারে অনেক ক্যাডার আর মাস্তান ছিল। এখন সব পানি হয়ে গেছে। কারও টুঁ শব্দ করার সাহস নেই। ৫ জনকে ক্রসফায়ারে দিয়েছি আরো ১৪ জনের লিস্ট করেছি। সব ঠাণ্ডা। লিস্ট করার পর যে দু’একজন ছিল তারা আমার পা ধরে বলেছে, আমাকে জানে মাইরেন না আমরা ভালো হয়ে যাবো।
প্রকাশ্যে একজন জনপ্রতিনিধি স্বীকার করলেন তিনিই ক্রস ফায়ারে দিয়েছেন। এই জনপ্রতিনিধিরা এভাবেই দেদারসে মানবাধিকার লংঘন করে যাচ্ছে। কেউ দেখার নেই। এমনকি আন্তর্জাতিক সম্প্রদায় এবিষয়ে চোখ বন্ধ করে আছে বলেই মনে হচ্ছে। কে জানে বাংলাদেশে এই বিচারহীনতার সংস্কৃতি আর ঢালাও মানবাধিকার লংঘনের রেওয়াজ কবে বন্ধ হবে।
