Sonu Nigam blamed Azaan for disturbing his morning sleep. Yesterday, very early in the morning, some Indian journalists gathered near Sonu’s flat in Mumbai to experience how Azaan was heard there. Strangely, they could not hear the sound of the Fazr Azaan there. Sonu’s neighbour, a Hindu woman, said to the journalists that she never heard the sound of Azaan from her house.

Very interestingly, India’s mainstream media and even leading TV channels suppressed this news that the sound of Fazr Azaan does not reach Sonu’s flat at all.
It’s clear, Sonu’s charge of being disturbed by Fazr Azan was false and he targeted Islam simply to add fuel to the growing Islamophobia. It’s painful to witness the big fall of the artist from a high pedestal of respect.
সোনু নিগম দাবী করেছিলেন সকালের আজানের শব্দে তার ঘুম ভাঙে। কিছু ভারতীয় সাংবাদিক গতকাল খুব সকালে যখন ফজরের আজান হয় তখন সোনু নিগমের মুম্বাইয়ের ফ্লাটের সামনে জড়ো হয়েছিল; এটা দেখার জন্য যে, আজানের শব্দ সেখান থেকে কেমন মাত্রায় শোনা যায়। অবাক বিষয় হচ্ছে তারা সকালে সেখান থেকে কোন আজানের শব্দ শুনতেই পান নাই। সোনুর প্রতিবেশীনি এক হিন্দু মহিলাকে সাংবাদিকেরা জিজ্ঞেস করেছিল যে, তিনি সকালে বাসা থেকে আজানের শব্দ শুনেছেন কিনা কখনো। সেই মহিলা বলেছেন, আমরা এখানে কোন আজান তো কখনো শুনতে পাইনা।

কৌতুহল উদ্দীপক বিষয় হচ্ছে, সোনুর ফ্লাটে ফজরের আজানের শব্দ মোটেই পৌছেনা, ভারতের মেইনস্ট্রিম মিডিয়া বা টিভি এই খবরকে বেমালুম চেপে গেছে।
সোনু নিগম ফজরের আজানে তাঁর ঘুমের সমস্যা হওয়ার মিথ্যা অভিযোগ তুলে উদ্দেশ্যমুলকভাবে সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে জাগিয়ে ওঠা ইসলাম বিদ্বেষে হাওয়া দিয়েছেন। উঁচু শ্রদ্ধার জায়গা থেকে একজন শিল্পীর এহেন অধঃপতন দেখাটা পীড়াদায়ক।
