On this day, 25 years ago, Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya, India. In 2001, Muslim Taliban militants committed an identically heinous act by destroying centuries old statue of Lord Buddha in Bamiyan, Afghanistan, using dynamites.
After the statue of Buddha was blown up by the Islamist militants, many Muslim organisations across the world condemned the act and then we saw how Taliban fell from power in Afghanistan. But, until today no Hindu group has ever condemned the demolition of the Babri Masjid by the Hindu activists. Not only that, two of the top Hindu nationalist BJP leaders, who spearheaded the attack on Babri Masjid 25 years ago, were eventually installed as the prime minister and deputy prime minister of India. Is it not interesting?
আজ থেকে ২৫ বছর আগে ভারতের অযোধ্যায় বাবরি মসজিদ ভাঙা হয়েছিল। ঠিক এইরকমের একটা ন্যক্কারজনক কাজ করেছিল তালেবানেরা আফগানিস্থানে বামিয়ানের হাজার বছরের প্রাচীন বুদ্ধমুর্তি ডিনামাইট বেধে উড়িয়ে দিয়েছিল।
জঙ্গি ইসলামপন্থীদের হাতে বামিয়ানের মুর্তি ভাংগার পরে সারা পৃথিবীর শুভবুদ্ধির মুসলিম সংগঠন গুলো প্রতিবাদ জানিয়েছিল; আর তালেবাননেরা ক্ষমতা থেকে উচ্ছেদ হয়ে গিয়েছিল। কিন্তু বাবরি মসজিদ ভাঙার পরে আজ পর্যন্ত কোন হিন্দু সংগঠন এই ন্যক্কারজনক ঘটনার প্রতিবাদ তো জানায়ইনি বরং এই মসজিদ ভাংগার দুই কুশীলব ভারতের মতো পৃথিবীর বৃহত্তম গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রে একজন প্রধানমন্ত্রী আরেকজন উপ প্রধানমন্ত্রী হয়েছিল। বিষয়টা ইন্টারেস্টিং নয় কি?
