Do you believe that some terrorists who have been attacked by police in a house will return to the same house to make it a hideout time and again? This unprecedented case is from Bangladesh. In Dhaka’s Nakhalpara police claimed to have killed three terrorists on January 11 (last week). They were hiding in a house called Ruby Villa which is located just behind the residence of the Prime Minister.
In 2013 and 2016, police launched anti-terrorism operations when it was reported that the terrorists hid at Ruby Villa and some of them were then arrested.
In another incident police latched up a house from outside, announced that the inmates there were terrorists and asked them over loudspeaker to surrender. Those who got trapped in that house were some students and their private tutor. They sought help from people using Facebook and the whole country swung in protest against the police action in the case and finally the students and their tutor were saved from being branded terrorists and killed.
Dozens of such incidents were reported in which police surrounded some houses and announced that terrorists were hiding inside. Police asked them to come out and surrender, but they did not come out. Police then bombed the houses and killed the inmates on the spot. In the media reports we saw only some badly mangled dead-bodies. We were told that they all were dreaded terrorists and that they killed themselves inside the houses.
The civil society has long been questioning the veracity of almost each anti-terrorism operation in the country. International human rights groups should inquire into each of such operations in Bangladesh. We want to be sure if no innocent person is being called terrorist by Bangladesh police and murdered by them in these anti-terrorism operations.
পৃথিবীতে এমন কোন জঙ্গি কি আছে যারা বারেবারে একই বাড়িতে আশ্রয় নিয়ে নাশকতার পরিকল্পনা করেছে? এই নজিরবিহীন ঘটনা ঘটেছে বাংলাদেশে। গতকাল নাখালপাড়ার রুবী ভিলাতে নিরাপত্তা বাহিনী অভিযান চালিয়ে তিনজন জঙ্গিকে হত্যা করেছে বলে দাবী করেছে। নাখালপাড়া প্রধানমন্ত্রীর অফিসের ঠিক পিছনেই।
এই রুবী ভিলাতেই ২০১৩ এবং ২০১৬ সালে জঙ্গি বিরোধী অভিযান হয়েছিল এবং কেউ নিহত না হলেও গ্রেপ্তার হয়েছিল।
আপনাদের নিশ্চয়ই মনে আছে বাইরে থেকে ছিটকানি আটকিয়ে দিয়ে আটকে পড়া মানুষদের জঙ্গি বলে অভিহিত করে তাঁদের নিরাপত্তা বাহিনী মাইক দিয়ে বাইরে এসে আত্মসমপর্নের আহ্বান জানাচ্ছিলো। কী হাস্যকর। আঁটকে পড়া একজন ফেইসবুকে সাহায্য চেয়ে স্ট্যাটাস দিলে সারা দেশের মানুষ প্রতিবাদে ফেটে পরে তাই তাঁদের জঙ্গি অপবাদ নিয়ে মরতে হয়নি।
এর আগে এমন অসংখ্য ঘটনা ঘটেছে যেখানে এভাবে মাইকে আহ্বান জানানো হয়েছে আত্মসমর্পনের, কেউ বাইরে আসেনি এবং তারপরে সেই বাসা গুলিতে বোমায় উড়িয়ে দিয়েছে নিরাপত্তা বাহিনী। ভিতরে পাওয়া গেছে ছিন্নভিন্ন কিছু মরদেহ। আমাদের বলা হয়েছে তাঁরা জঙ্গি এবং তাঁরা আত্মঘাতী হয়েছে।
এই অভিযানগুলোর বিরুদ্ধে দীর্ঘদিন থেকেই সিভিল সোসাইটি প্রশ্ন তুলছে। আমরা প্রশ্ন তুলতে চাই তাঁদের ঘরের ছিটকানি যে বাইরে থেকে আটকানো ছিলনা সেটা কে নিশ্চিত করেছে? জবাবদিহিহীনভাবে এই কথিত জঙ্গি বিরোধী অভিজান চলছে। আন্তর্জাতিক মানবাধিকার সংস্থা সমুহকে আহ্বান জানাই। এই সকল অভিজানকে প্রশ্ন করুন। আমাদের মনে অনেক প্রশ্ন জন্ম নিয়েছে এর মধ্যেই। জঙ্গি অপবাদ দিয়ে কাউকে এভাবে মেরে ফেলা হচ্ছেনা তা আমরা নিশ্চিত হতে চাই।
