We do not know who attacked Zafar Iqbal and why he attacked him. Our past experiences suggest, we may never be able to know the facts behind this latest attack.
We must not forget that for several international agencies monitoring Bangladesh’s domestic incidents, in the cases of such attacks, our government is not above suspicion. Last month, in its report, International Crisis Group noted this clearly.
However, from our past experiences we fear, that the truth in the case of attack on Iqbal may get suppressed. And, the government may cook up a false story in the case in the political interest of the ruling party, ahead of the upcoming national elections. There is a high possibility that the government will end up blaming “Jamaat-Shibir” or some Islamist group, without presenting any supporting evidence.
Yet, we cannot support the attack on Zafar Iqbal just because some among us do not like him. We cannot wish anyone to die or be harmed just because his thought or ideology clashes with ours. All along we have to keep fighting for justice. Otherwise, we will end up ensuring the victory of the tyrant.
Please ponder over my points well. I am sure you will not disagree with me.
জাফর ইকবালের উপর কে হামলা করেছে, কেন করেছে এর কোন কিছুই আমরা এখনো জানি না। জানতে পারব তারও কোন নিশ্চয়তা নাই। এর আগের হামলার অভিজ্ঞতা আমাদের তাই বলে।
আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে যারা আমাদের দেশের ঘটনায় নজর রাখে যেমন “ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ক্রাইসিস গ্রুপ”, এরাও এসব ঘটনার জন্য সরকারকেও সন্দেহের বাইরে রাখে নাই। গত ফেব্রুয়ারি রিপোর্টেও তাই আছে।
তবে ঘটনা যাই ঘটুক আর এর সত্য বয়ান যাই হোক সেটা না হয়ে বরং শাসকদল সেটাকে নিজের নির্বাচনী হিসাবের বয়ান হিসাবে হাজির করতে পারে – অতীত অভিজ্ঞতার ভিত্তিতে এটা আশংকা করা যায়। ফলে কোন নির্দিষ্ট প্রমাণ ছাড়াই ‘জামাত-শিবির’ অথবা ‘জঙ্গিবাদ’ টাইপের কারও উপর দায় চাপাবার সম্ভাবনা প্রায় যোল আনা।
তবু জাফর ইকবালকে হয়তো আমরা অনেকে পছন্দ করি না বলে -যাক ভাল হয়েছে বা তাঁর এতদিনের পালা সাপ তাকেই ছোবল দিয়েছে – এমন কথা আমরা বলতে পারিনা। কেউ আপনার আমার চিন্তার বিরোধী হয় বা কেউ ধর্মবিদ্বেষী হলেই তাঁর ক্ষতি বা মৃত্যু কামনা আমাদের ইনসাফের লড়াইকে প্রশ্নবিদ্ধ করবে যা শেষ বিচারে জালেমকেই শক্তিশালী করবে।
আমার কথাটা মাথা ঠাণ্ডা করে ভেবে দেখবেন।
