“Prathom Alo”, Bangladesh’s largest circulated Bengali language national newspaper, has changed the online version of this story on attack on Zafar Iqbal along with its headline. This is a stark example of unethical journalism. If they sought to remove or withdraw the original version of the news, they could have done it publishing an explainer. But, they changed the body and the headline going against the basic rule of journalism. This is disappointing.

বাংলাদেশের সর্বাধিক প্রচারিত বাংলা দৈনিক প্রথম আলো জাফর ইকবালের উপরে আক্রমণ সংক্রান্ত এই নিউজটা শিরোনামসহ পুরোটাই এডিট করেছে। এটা অপসাংবাদিকতা। খবর প্রত্যাহার করতে চাইলে কারণ উল্লেখ করে ঘোষণা দিয়ে প্রত্যাহার করতে হয়। সাংবাদিকতা আর সম্পাদকীয় এই নীতিও প্রথম আলো মানলো না। হতাশাজনক।
