Myanmar government signed an agreement with the United Nations reportedly to help the Rohingya refugees return from Bangladesh as soon as possible. But, very strangely, they did not make the Rohingya community a party to this agreement and kept its contents under wraps.
Now the text of the agreement have leaked online and the Rohingya community is angry and disappointed to read it. They find their demands relating to citizenship and safety have not been addressed in the agreement. Myanmar government robbed the Rohingyas of their citizebship rights in 1982. It is not willing to return the rights to them. It is not surprising why the Rohingyas are rejecting this agreement.
মিয়ানমার থেকে পালিয়ে বাংলাদেশে আসা রোহিঙ্গাদের দ্রুত নিজেদের দেশে ফেরত নেওয়ার জন্য সম্প্রতি মিয়ানমার সরকার জাতিসংঘের সাথে একটি চুক্তি করেছিলো। কিন্তু সেই চুক্তিতে রোহিঙ্গাদের কাউকেই একটা পক্ষ হিসেবে যুক্ত করা হয়নি, শুধু তাই নয় চুক্তির মূল বিষয়বস্তু মিয়ানমারের পরিকল্পনা অনুযায়ী গোপন রাখা হয়।
এখন ওই চুক্তির সব তথ্য অনলাইনে ফাঁস হওয়ার পর রোহিঙ্গারা তা পড়ে ক্ষুব্ধ ও হতাশ। এমনই তো হওয়ার কথা। তারা অনেক পুরুষ ধরে মিয়ানমারের নাগরিক হিসাবে বসবাস করে এসেছে। হঠাৎ ১৯৮২ সালে তাদের নাগরিকত্ব কেড়ে নেয়া হয়। এখন তাদের দেশে ফিরিয়ে আনতে চাইছো বিদেশী অনুপ্রবেশকারীর পরিচয় দিয়ে। চুক্তিতে তাদের নাগরিকত্বের অধিকার প্রসঙ্গে কিছু লেখা নাই। রোহিঙ্গাদের তো এই চুক্তি প্রত্যাখ্যান করাই স্বাভাবিক ।
