I was going through the media reports on the attack on the temple in Sylhet. It has been widely believed that it was a clash triggered by playing musical instruments on microphone by one group when the other group was preparing for namaaz. But, in the case of many such communal clashes in the past we found that the troubles had originated from property-related disputes.
Today The Daily Star has reported that yesterday’s trouble in Sylhet had its roots in a property-related dispute and that some people mischievously sought to give a communal color to it. However, most of the online news portals said that playing of music over microphone during the time of the namaaz was the root of all troubles.
I cannot be certain at this point whether the Daily Star version of the story is true. However, if we take a look at the history of Pakistan, we find that before taking over the properties of the religious minorities, different divisive religious incidents were mischievously triggered. Taking into consideration of those facts of the past, I tend to believe that the Daily Star version of the report on Sylhet clashes could be true.
However, we must be very clear on this point that persecution of religious minorities in Bangladesh does not bode well for our Bangladesh in future. We have all along said that an inclusive society will be the foundation of our Bangladesh.
If Hindus face persecution in Bangladesh for the sake of their religious identity, we can never build that Bangladesh of which we have all along dreamt. But, there are forces in the country who are indulging in divisive political game and so we see such persecution in Bangladesh. This persecution in turn bolsters that fascist politics of divide. We have to be very cautious. We cannot let this society get divided- we have to stand against it. We cannot let our all dreams with Bangladesh shatter into
সিলেটের গতকালের মন্দিরে হামলার ইস্যুটার খবরগুলো দেখছিলাম। বাইরে থেকে এটাকে যতই বাজনা বাজানো আর নামাজ পড়ার সাথে যুক্ত সংঘাত বলে মনে করা হোক না কেন সকল সময় এই ধরনের ঘটনাগুলোর পিছনে একটা বৈষয়িক বিষয় সংযুক্ত থাকে।
ডেইলি স্টারে দেখলাম তারা বলছে এটা জমি সংক্রান্ত ইস্যু সেটাকে সাম্প্রদায়িক রূপ দেয়ার চেষ্টা করা হয়েছে। আবার অনলাইনে যে প্রচারণা চলছে যেটা সেটা মুলত বিভেদমূলক (সাম্প্রদায়িক) প্রচার। ডেইলি স্টারের নিউজ পড়ে মনে হল এখানে কোন ধর্ম সংক্রান্ত ইস্যু নাই।
ডেইলি স্টারের বক্তব্য সত্য নাকি বায়াসড সেটা এখনই বলা মুশকিল। তবে পাকিস্তানের ইতিহাস যদি দেখি তাহলে আমরা দেখবো ধর্মীয় সংখ্যালঘুদের জমি দখলের অছিলা হিসেবে বেশীরভাগ সময় বিভেদাত্মক (সাম্প্রদায়িক) ইস্যুকে সামনে আনা হয়েছে। সেই হিসেবে ডেইলি স্টারের বক্তব্যকে কিছুটা আমলে নেয়া যায়।
তবে এখনই একটা বিষয় পরিস্কার করে বলা দরকার; বাংলাদেশে সাম্প্রদায়িক নিপীড়ন, হিন্দু নির্যাতন ভবিষ্যতের বাংলাদেশের সাথে সাংঘর্ষিক। যেই বাংলাদেশের স্বপ্ন আমরা দেখি, ভবিষ্যতের যেই ইনক্লুসিভ সমাজের কথা বলি এই হিন্দু নির্যাতন সেই ভবিষ্যতের বাংলাদেশের পক্ষে নয়। বর্তমানের বিভাজনের রাজনীতির যেই সময় কে আমরা অতিক্রম করে যেতে চাই; এই বিভেদাত্মক (সাম্প্রদায়িক) নির্যাতন সেই বিভাজনের রাজনীতিরই আরেকটি আরেক রূপ। এই নির্যাতন সেই বিভাজনের ফ্যাসিস্ট রাজনীতিকেই শক্তিশালী করে। এখন এই ধরণের ঘটনাগুলোর বিষয় আমাদের সতর্ক হতে হবে; রুখে দাড়াতে হবে। আমরা যদি রুখে দাঁড়াতে না পারি তবে আমাদের ভবিষ্যৎ বাংলাদেশের স্বপ্ন ধংস হয়ে যাবে।
