She is the relative of a district leader of BNP, Bangladesh’s largest opposition party. Just for this one former local union board leader has been gang-raped.
Before assaulting her the men said that she deserved to be raped because she was working for the BNP in the election. The 40-year-old woman said that she was in no way involved with the election this time. The three political miscreants did not pay heed to her appeal to be spared and gang-raped her.
These days the newspapers often do not want to name the organisations to which the miscreants in such cases belong. However, the people indeed know the political affiliation of such miscreants. In every war humiliation of women is used as a weapon by different sides. The human rights situation has reached that state in Bangladesh.

জেলা বিএনপি সহ সভাপতির আত্মীয়, এই পরিচয়ই যথেষ্ট একজন সাবেক ইউপি সদস্যকে সংঘবদ্ধভাবে ধর্ষণ করার জন্য।
অত্যাচারের আগে দুর্বৃত্তরা ওই মহিলা ইউপি সদস্যকে বলে যে তাকে ধর্ষণ করা সঙ্গত কারণ সে নির্বাচনে বিএনপির জন্য কাজ করছে। ৪০ বছর বয়সী এই মহিলা বলেন তিনি কোনভাবেই এই নির্বাচনে যুক্ত নন। তবুও তাকে তুলে নেয়া তিন রাজনৈতিক দুর্বৃত্ত তার কথা শোনেনি এবং তাকে ধর্ষণ করা থেকে রেহাই দেয়নি।
ইদানিং সংবাদপত্রে দুর্বৃত্তদের সাংগঠনিক পরিচয় সংবাদ মাধ্যম দেয়না। কিন্তু দেশের মানুষ জানে এটা কারা করছে। যুদ্ধক্ষেত্রেই নারীর অবমাননাকে একটি অস্ত্র হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হয়। বাংলাদেশের মানবাধিকার পরিস্থিতি সেই অবস্থাতেই গিয়েছে।
