Should police arrest his son if they fail to get at a suspect? No, police cannot arrest the relatives of any suspect that way in any civilised country. But, in Bangladesh police often resort to this practice which amounts to an illegal act.
A good number of police personnel from Bangladesh work as members of UN peacekeeping forces across the world. These Bangladeshi members of the UN forces, committing abuses at home, also pose risk to discredit the elite international forces, while working abroad. The related UN agency should send an alert to Bangladesh asking the authorities to act against the police personnel committing abuses in their home country.

বাবাকে না পেয়ে পৃথিবীর কোন দেশে ছেলেকে গ্রেপ্তার করে পুলিস বাহিনী? এটা কোন আইনে আছে?
কোন অভিযুক্তকে না গ্রেপ্তার করতে পারলে তার স্বজনকে গ্রেপ্তার করা তো কোন সভ্য দেশে হয়না। এই বাংলাদেশী পুলিস বাহিনী নাকি জাতিসংঘের শান্তিরক্ষা মিশনে যায়। জাতিসংঘ মিশনে গিয়েও তো এরা এই ধরণের মানবাধিকার লঙ্ঘনের ঘটনা ঘটাবে আর জাতিসংঘের বদনাম করবে। জাতিসংঘের তরফ থেকেও বাংলাদেশ পুলিশকে অব্যাহত মানবাধিকার লংঘনের বিষয়ে সতর্ক বার্তা দেয়া দরকার বলে আমি মনে করি।
