The missing journalist of PurbaPoschimBD was a staunch Awami League supporter. He wrote in a Facebook post addressing CJB Sinha that he was no more being supported by India. “Stop jumping around the way you like,” he wrote. Aniruddha Roy, who disappeared some months ago, was also close to high echelons of power.

In Bangladesh some people founded a Hindutwabadee group and named it BJP, following the name of India’s ruling Hindu nationalist party and it called itself a pro-liberation war party. Mithun Choudhury, president of Bangladesh’s BJP and Ashik Ghosh, who is a central committee leader of the party, too have been disappeared recently.

If you believe that only those who are against the government are likely to be the victims of disappearance and you are safe because you are a pro-Awami League person, you are utterly wrong. None is immune from the threat of being disappeared.

Disappearance is a national aberration. We all should stand against this irrespective of our political allegiance. If we stand united on this issue we can demolish this culture of disappearance in the country. It’s not that late as yet. Let all of us get together and oppose this crime against humanity.

ভারতের বিজেপির নাম ধার করে বাংলাদেশেও একটা হিন্দুত্ববাদী দল তৈরি হয়েছিল বিজেপি নামে। তারা দাবী করেছিল এই নতুন দল মুক্তিযুদ্ধের পক্ষের দল। সেই দলের আহবায়ক মিঠুন চৌধুরী ওরফে সুধাংশু রায় এবং কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির সদস্য আশিক ঘোষ সম্প্রতি গুম হয়েছেন।

তাহলে গুমের শিকার যে শুধু সরকারবিরোধীরাই হবে আর আপনি নিরাপদ থাকবেন এইই প্রিসামশন ভুল এবং আত্মঘাতী। এই গুমের আশংকা থেকে কেউই মুক্ত নয়।

গুম একটি রাষ্ট্রীয় বিকার। এই বিকারের বিরুদ্ধে দল-মত নির্বিশেষে দাঁড়ান। আমাদের সন্মিলিত প্রতিরোধ এই গুমের সংস্কৃতিকে ধংস করে দিতে পারে। এখনো সময় আছে, দলবাজি ছেড়ে গুম নামের মানবতার বিরুদ্ধে অপরাধকে প্রতিরোধ করুন।
