In this article, the author has called Hefajat e Islam (HeI) a terrorist organisation. This is ridiculously untrue. He knows nothing about the ground reality in Bangladesh.
The organisation of HeI was born simply to protect the Islamic faith and way of life. It functions in a purely defensive approach, standing and fighting for Muslims’ right to practise the religion freely. It stands up in defence when anyone shows disrespect to Islam or hurts Muslims’ religious sentiments. The demand for the right to practise one’s religion is indeed a secular demand. So, HeI’s fight for the right to practise one’s religion is indeed secular in nature.
The author of the above article, I am sure, does not know how HeI also stands by the Bangladeshi Hindus when miscreants vandalise their temples and how it assures the Bangladeshi Buddhists when they say they feel unsafe following the killings of Rohingya Muslims by Buddhist militants.
The security agencies have never been able to prove that HeI has had connection with terrorism. It is a spiritual organisation which supports the building of an inclusive society. By calling HeI an extremist group the author has indulged in a mischief and it seems he has a dirty motive.
It has been a fashion to call a group terrorist or extremist if its name carries the word of “Islam” in it- this is racism and it reflects hatred against Islam.
এই রিপোর্টটিতে হেফাজতে ইসলামকে টেরোরিস্ট সংগঠন হিসেবে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে। এটা হাস্যকর রকমভাবে অসত্য। ভারতীয় লেখকটির বাংলাদেশের রাজনৈতিক বাস্তবতা সম্পর্কে ন্যুনতম কোন ধারণাই নেই।
হেফাজতে ইসলাম কোন রাজনৈতিক দল নয়, তারা একটি ধর্মীয় সংগঠন। তারা তাদের ঈমান ও আকিদা রক্ষার জন্য সংগঠিত হয়েছে। তারা চায় তাদের ধর্ম পালনের অবাধ অধিকার থাকুক এবং কেউ যেন তাদের ধর্ম অবমাননা করে তাদের ধর্মীয় অনুভুতিতে আঘাত না দেয়। সকলের ধর্ম পালনের অধিকার একটা স্যেকুলার দাবীও বটে। তাই হেফাজতের এই দাবীকে মোটা দাগে একটা স্যেকুলার দাবী বলেই স্বীকৃতি দেয়া যায়।
আমি নিশ্চিত এই প্রবন্ধের লেখক জানেই না যে, হেফাজতে ইসলাম যে শুধু মুসলমান ধর্মের মানুষের ধর্মীয় অধিকার নিয়ে সোচ্চার তাই নয়, আমরা দেখেছি তারা হিন্দুদের মন্দির ভাংলেও প্রতিবাদ করে, মায়ানমারে বুদ্ধিস্ট টেররিজম রোহিঙ্গাদের উপরে গনহত্যা চালালেও বাংলাদেশের বৌদ্ধদের পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে তাদের সাহস যোগায় আশ্বস্ত করে।
কখনো হেফাজতের বিরুদ্ধে কোন ধরণের টেররিজমে যুক্ত থাকার অভিযোগ প্রমাণ করা যায়নি। যেই ধর্মীয় সংগঠন স্পিরিচুয়াল চর্চা করে একটা ইনক্লুসিভ সমাজ গঠনের জন্য কাজ করে চলেছে, তাকে টেররিস্ট সংগঠন বলে ইন্ডিয়ান মিডিয়ার পক্ষ থেকে পরিচয় করিয়ে দেয়া দুরভিসন্ধিমুলক।
কোন সংগঠনের নামের সাথে “ইসলাম” শব্দটা থাকলেই তাকে টেররিস্ট ভাবাটা একটা ফ্যাশন হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে, এই ফ্যাশনটা এক ধরনের রেইসিজম এবং ইসলাম বিদ্বেষ।
