From the posh residential areas of NOIDA, near Delhi, Yogi Adityanath has begun “Drive Away Bangladeshis” campaign. They are being called Bangladeshis because they speak Bangla language and happen to be Muslim. However, those people, who mostly do menial jobs in the area, claim that they are from West Bengal, they are Indian and they have Indian voter ID cards.
In India’s Hindi belt the Hindutvabadis are seeking to criminalize the identity of Bangladeshis. Local Indians are being made to believe that Bangladeshi means illegal immigrants and criminals, and they should be driven away from India.
When BJP leader Madanlal Khurana was the chief minister of Delhi, another campaign to drive away “Bangladeshis” began in the area. Many Bengali-speaking people were harassed and tonsured during that campaign.
India should put a halt to such campaign which aims to whip up anti-Bangladesh passion among its citizens. If India can prove that some people are Bangladeshi citizens and living and working as illegal immigrants in India, we can indeed take them back. But, India should not harass and humiliate people by calling them Bangladeshi illegal immigrants and not presenting any evidence. Perhaps, India is a powerful nation. But, it does not have the right to torture even its own citizens by branding them Bangladeshis.
নতুন অভিজাত ভারতীয় আবাসন এলাকা নয়ডা থেকে বাংলাদেশী খেদাও অভিযান শুরু করেছে যোগী আদিত্যনাথ সরকার। এদের বাংলাদেশী বলা হচ্ছে কারণ তারা মুসলিম আর বাংলাভাষী। যদিও তারা দাবী করছে তারা কোচবিহারের বাসিন্দা, এমনকি তাদের ভারতীয় ভোটার কার্ডও আছে।
ভারতের হিন্দিভাষী অঞ্চলে বাংলাদেশী পরিচয়কে হিন্দুত্ববাদীরা ক্রিমিনালাইজ করেছে। বাংলাদেশী মানেই অবৈধ অভিবাসী, অপরাধের সাথে যুক্ত এবং এদের খেদিয়ে দিলেই তাদের সমস্যার সমাধান হবে এমন ধারণা প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।
মদনলাল খুরানা যখন দিল্লির মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ছিলেন, তখন এ ভাবে বাংলাদেশি তাড়াও অভিযানে নেমেছিল বিজেপি সরকার। বাংলাদেশি অভিযোগে বহু লোকের মাথা ন্যাড়া করে দেওয়া হয়েছিল।
এইভাবে বাংলাদেশ নামের রাস্ট্রের বিরুদ্ধে জাতিগত ঘৃণা উস্কে দেয়া বন্ধ করার জন্য ভারতকে আহবান জানাই। যদি তারা সত্যই আমাদের দেশের নাগরিক হয় উপযুক্ত প্রমাণ দিলে আমরা তাদের সসন্মানে ফিরিয়ে নিতে পারি। কিন্তু বাংলাদেশের নাগরিক বলে অপবাদ দিয়ে কাউকে অসন্মান অপমান করার অধিকার ভারতের নাই। আপনি যত বড় শক্তিমান আর ক্ষমতাধর রাস্ট্রই হোন না কেন। এমনকি বাংলাদেশ রাস্ট্রের নাগরিক এই মিথ্যা পরিচয় দিয়ে ভারত নিজের দেশের নাগরিককে নিপীড়ন করার অধিকার রাখেনা।
